Thanks 99greenwagon also, its a joy using this forum knowing that people want to help. I cant wait to get back in the Scooby after driving my St170 for the last 6yrs. You cant beat the sound of a flat four engine and the sound of my wife screaming whenever the turbo kicks in through the lower gears.

Not good! I have changed the oil and put everything back together and thought that I would check for any leaks before firing it up. I have a small area on the sump which has corroded and is leaking the fresh oil very slowly but enough to cause a small pool on the floor after half an hour. I thought it best not to start the engine as when the oil heats up and thins then the leak will prob become more severe. Is there anyway of patching it up or is it a big problem?

Managed to get some metal repair compound which sets like steel and it has worked for now. Now I have a different problem. The ignition isnt working properly. I can turn the key to the 1st stage and the clock, windscreen wipers/electric mirrors etc will work but when I turn the key for the fans, dashboard & car stereo etc nothing happens. It will let me turn the engine over but wont fire up????????

Yeh it has an old Clifford Concept 50 which seems to be working ok regarding putting it in valet mode as the led goes from flashing to a solid light and the Led for the immobiliser going out when I use the key fob for it. Nothing happens tho when I turn the key so maybe it is a fault with the alarm/immobilser. Is there anyway round it?

Battery?
Always gofor the simple ones first! Try Jump leads from another car, just in case the battery is bugg*red!
I have seen problems when the bendix relay does not kick in if there is too high a voltage drop in days gone by.

Cheers mate but I put a brand new battery in today as the old was bugg*red. I have contacted Clifford but arent holding my breath on a response. I disconnected the crank sensor and turned the engine over and then reconnected expecting it to fire up but it just continued to turn over. I then noticed that the fans etc werent working either, it all points towards the immobiliser! Dont know what Ill do now!

Help
Glad to see a happy ending!
There is someone here able to help, or laugh, depending on the nature of the problem.
Many years ago I was at a mining college, you were assigned a tutor to help with any issues. A new start, like myself was assigned to an old Yorkshire character, who sought out his new encumbant. Having found him he said to him...If you have any personal problems please give me a days notice, so I can tell my mate to come too, as he enjoys a good laugh!
At least the advice was there, but at a cost!
