That's funny in a thread about HTC whose product lifecycle is shorter than the shelf life of a box of croissant!!!

iPhone 4 is a great phone, mine is jailbroken to get the most out of it but even so I still like Android. Having used both for some time I still think iOS is the better platform. It's more stable, more apps & easier to navigate. Android is very good but the fact you need a task killer to stop your battery from dying half way through the day puts mr off buying one. Two of my colleagues both own the HD & both constantly complain about the battery life, especially afer the last update.
Try both & see what you think!
Try both & see what you think!
But then at least Android does multi-tasking properly ....

Strangely the task killer was installed at an O2 shop by the phone Guru!
I use the task monitor / killer on my 7" screen phone tablet, as when you swap cards from different countries you have to clear the cache or the new card refuses to work!
Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but it has some reason for being.

My youngest daughter paid £400 odd and bought her Desire HD from CPW unbranded and stuck her O2 sim in it. Hers for some reason keeps losing all her contacts and text conversation history about once every three weeks. My other daughters is the same phone on a T Mobile contract and hers has done the same but only a couple of times. Mine suffers the known issues relating to the 2.2 upgrade: screen going black whilst typing, freezing, suddenly going to the home screen whilst typing a text etc. It was good for about six months but it deteriorated rapidly after that. And the screen really is appalling compared to the iPhone.
Is the Galaxy a better option?

I personally think the HD is physically too big - so I would go for the Desire S since the CPU & RAM are identical, as well as screen resolution (although the camera is better on HD, but the battery is by all accounts worse).

It's all in the detail with apple, for instance the touch screen.. The HTC is ok, but the iPhone one is just better. I can only liken the iPhone one to moving around a piece of paper on a glass table, they have got it just right. Even when you quickly swipe something the way it slows down is amazing, just perfectly weighted. Also little things like when you turn the device from portrait to landscape it smoothly rotates on the iPhone, all the other devices just pretty much switch between the views. Don't know why others can't get it the same but they just can't seem to.
I almost think the shocking battery alone is enough to put me off the htc I had. I use my phone a lot for work and do a lot of map work and inernet searching and you'd need to make sure you left home with the battery 100%.
I did try jailbreaking my iPhone once and it actually made me realise why apple don't allow certain things on the phone. It just started getting buggy, some of the free apps didn't work right, you'd get weird crashes etc. People moan about the lack of ability to do certain things but most of it is designed to keep the platform stable IMO.

How long does the battery last on the IPhone...just out of interest? I get almost 2 days of heavy useage out of my Desire D
Personally, I actualyl prefer the touch screen on the Desire S than my friends Iphone.
Just seems smoother. It also speeds up and slows down just as the IPhone interface.![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
As for rotating views, again, my Desire S does this no problem.
The internet browser is also super fast, sometimes quicker than my home PC!

My iPhone will last a good couple of days of my usage, the sensation was one dayof my usage. And if (what often happens with me) I forget to charge my iPhone it'll last the third day if you scrimp it but if I forgot to charge the HTC after a heavy 1st day I'd be fooked the next day. If I charge my iPhone on a Thursday it'll only need charging again Sunday night as I use it less over weekend.
Yes I found the HTC screen more sensitive, but too much so it's just not quite right. The iPhone touch just has an almost physical feel about it. And regarding the screen turn thing I was referring to the way it turns, have them side by side and do it and it's obvious which looks better. The iPhone nicely rotates the pic and my HTC just pretty much flicked between the two.
I'm outside alot too and honestly I was shocked at the HTC screen (which is veryimpresdive indoors) it's hardly visible in sunlight.

I have had a Desire HD since christmas and it is particularly awesome. I'm so glad I chose an Android phone over an Iphone. The only thing I would say about the Iphone thats good is it's integration with Itunes - although hardly a deal breaker.
The Desire HD is bigger than the 3gs Iphone. My mum found an Iphone last night in Tesco and brought it to my house thinking I could find out the number and call the owner - it was locked so waited for the owner to call (he gave us a bottle of wine to say thank you
) Anyway, I did think it felt very light and flimsy. The Desire HD is a big bugger I have to say.
It syncs well with Outlook so all my appointments and notes are uploaded. Internet access is really good and just like a small laptop when running off the home wifi - I watched F1 Practice in bed from the BBC website on it (which was cool)
Games are really good too - addicted to Myth Defense right now.
Really pleased with mine anway. Battery isn't great but I use Juice Defender so if I'm not hammering the games it lasts a couple of days. Battery life isn't too much of a big deal as I have cradles for it at home and work and *** lighter charger for the car.

Went looking at lunch today and wasn't impressed with the offerings, especially with the contracts. So for the time being I'll just move over to a simplicity tariff and keep the existing iphone going. That way if a 5 is forthcoming I can make a decission then.

I seriously recommend that people go with o2. I have always had problems on any other network. They are the most expensive because they offer the best coverage.
Seriously stay away from Vodaphone.

They also seem to have bucked their ideas up on the customer service front, dealing with them recently with the 'upgrade' was pleasant (took a lot of time going through options and explaining what can happen if I don't like the upgrade). When I rang up to exercise my 14 day return right they were superb, guy even offered to send out a padded envelope (which came next day) to return it in. Absolutely no quibble just straight forward and helpful.

aye we have an MD with the same issue, can only get a vodafone signal, so all our phones are on vodafone heh
ive never had a problem with signal
keep an eye out for the Nexus Prime! although i think it'll be built by samsung, i find pure android phones a much better product, as well as you get all the updates 1st heh
(and unlike the Desire which they decided cant do the latest update, which the nexus one does fine and is pretty much identical)

So is it still worth getting an Iphine 4 now, or wait till the Iphone 5 comes out in October (My contract up in 2 weeks).
Any idea how much Apple will charge for the Iphone 5 when it comes out?
Can get an Iphone 4 for £69, plus monthly charge.

Got an HTC Desire HD last month - awesome ![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Although it's big I only ever used to put my old phone (SE P1i) in a pocket on it's own to avoid scratches etc and with the DHD being curvey and slimmer I find I notice it less if anything...
Battery life is surprisingly short
- but it's improving I think with use.
All the modern smart phones are amazing as far as I can tell - I don't have a huge amount of experience - tend to get a phone and stick with it - had the P1i 4/5 years I think...
Got the DHD due to finding an awesome combo deal - £50 off through Quidco to mobiles.co.uk who were offering O2 100 min/ 500 text / 500 MB for £21.50 with free phone and 6 months free on a 24 month contract - I worked this out to be £14 per month on average over 2 years![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
I'm used to spending on average £5 a month, mostly on texts to my kids - so £14pm was really pushing the boat out - it's a birthday present from the missus
- Thanks again sweet-pea

I beg to differ here! When I lived in the leafy SE (near Reading) Vodafone was the ONLY signal that worked near my house. Move to Cornwall to where all signals were sh!te but got a Vodafone Sure Signal - so all was fine again. Moved again within Cornwall to where I am now and Vodafone is the only signal that works. IMHO they also have the best coverage.
So

She did to a certain extent. She has her own business and works in several areas locally that change as and when she gets new contracts. Weird thing is both her Vodaphone and my T mobile/Orange signal constantly fluctuate between full and no signal when we are at home.
![Brickwall](images/smilies/brickwall.gif)
When I was on Orange I can't remember ever having bad signal issues.

Juice Defender is helpful to control what the phone does when you're not using it. It helps with battery life.
I got my DHD from Orange and it's full of Orange tat that it won't allow me to unistall. I sorted out a deal for a work mate and his DHD although has an Orange contract has none of the sh1te.
