My premium increase 28%, no change to circumstances.
Shopped around to get it for 10% less than I paid last year, that's with LV.
Ironically I was with LV 3 years ago when they upped the quote a large amount so I left. No claims in the meantime, so they could basically have had £2k of premiums if they'd kept the quotes sensible

However just so we're clear, I'm not necessarily lumping you in with that crowd, but you need to remember that it's all done on the law of averages.
If 90% of 17 years old lads drove sensibly, insurance would be cheaper, in exactly the same way as if 90% of people actually bothered their ***** to pay for tax and insurance then motoring would be cheaper for all (...maybe ).
Sadly, neither's true so we get screwed on both
You'd actually be surprised though - my mate used to work for big well known insurer and he said that many of the car insurance arms make a loss as they don't retain their existing customers, because their sales staff are being made to offer stupid rates to new customers, and spend less time trying to attract people to stay with them.
Hopefully they'll start to realise the stupidity of this new approach soon, and start offering those of us who put business their way better deals to stay with them so we can all benefit and continue to do so from more competitive prices.

To be fair mate, I'd say from experience that starting in a very quick car is likely to end badly if you're not sensible - and that's where the problem lies - most 17 year old lads want to show off to their mates and tend to do the odd occassional (or in some cases, frequent) tittish manouvre. Add a proper performance car into the mix instead of a slower 1.1 or similar model, then you can imagine that the resulting damage and probable heartache is likely to be much worse - worst case scenario people end up dead instead of just injured.

fast, pushes the limit on a straight road, good weather, overtake on a straight with no juntions etc
stupid, driving 50mph over the speed limit no matter what
but i think some insurance companies need to learn, there are some teenagers out there that like me, have wanted a scoobie for many years and if i had one, ad be waxing it every day, taking good care, would not dare risking get a scratch never mind wrapping it around a lamp post and i gotta be honest, my method of showing off would be driving 25 mph in a 30 limit so more people can see me rollin, they hat'in haha sorry had to!
