Some self-emplyed people are taking pay cuts, just to keep some sort of money coming in.

Anyway, it isn't the percentage that matters but how much you earn.
6% of your £60-70k salary is far more than 6% of the average salary.

But you knew that, anyway.

Teachers are getting 7.5% this September ... Bankers are still getting fat bonuses, I'm doing better than most of the private sector ... you 'normal, everyday, workers' are getting shafted!!

So look at me and **** you all

Ooops, I didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest - just my expression of disgust at getting effectively a zero rise.

I do appreciate that 6% is around £5100 - but, my cost of living must have gone up that much - AND I'm paying more at 40% than I was ... just to fund Teachers huge payrises and Gold Plated Pensions!

Not happy about it all to be honest.

To those with no payrise - why should you fund the Teachers 7.5% payrise from your taxes?

I'd be glad at 6%, got 1.2% pay rise, but inflation, county tax increases and the imminent VAT % increase effectively means I'm earning less.

Gotta love it :P

Pete's more interesting when it's moaning about Teachers, or even acting smug about his cr@p Diesel. When he's boasting about his wealth and pay it's a bit boring.

all day??? LOL, a few hours at most. The odd day they are working that is and not on holiday/strike/teacher training/off sick.

It's an easy job... has to be given some of the dumb f**ks we saw interviewed last Thursday that don't understand basic maths or have any social responsibility!!!

Can't even be bothered now to look if I'm getting one this year

But my pension contribution is now set to rise and they are getting rid of our 'shift allowance' - so I'm looking at a 6% reduction in my pay

Can't believe that you are complaing!

After the mess your heroes left this country in, both financially and the state of moral degradation it has sunk into, you should could yourself very lucky to still have a job let alone a 6% payrise. Just imagine how happy most people would feel with another £5K PA and thank your lucky stars!

What teachers got 7.5%?

My wife certainly didn't.

In fact she's not had a pay-rise even EQUAL to the rate of inflation for YEARS. Certainly not under Liebour

not had a payrise since the start of 2006, no pension either coz i can't afford to pay in to one, no bonuses either and overtime at 1.5 times my hourly rate which they seem to be trying to cut. couple that to a boss who drives around in a 80k merc has more holidays a year then santa and told us in a staff meeting that we need to work harder to earn the company more money and theres no pay rise this year.

total joke

"IF" you really do earn that much-which i doubt- then you earn considerably more than any teacher ( apart from secondary head).

So, considering the avarage uk salary is around £ 26,000 then i really dont think you have to worry too much about milk and the gas going up- especially as you drive a cheap Honda diesel and probably dont get out much.
Enjoy the feed!!

I thought teachers' pay increase was (rightly) frozen at 0% this year? Where does your 7.5% come from?

I'm not sure I believe your claimed 6% (suspect you're baiting / bullsh1tting as usual) but if it's true, it's pillocks like your employers that drive inflation up. Only by holding wages back can inflation be brought under control, otherwise it's a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Oh well, you win some and loose some eh Roll on Sept, the wife can take me out for dinner with the proceeds of her payrise

At least the money you're saving on fuel running your (ever so boring) Honda diesel will make up for your lack of 'real' payrise!
