Tony,

It may not be the SatNav's fault, it could be where the GPS antenna has been mounted and its loosing signal.

I have no idea where the UK Dealers are actually mounting it, but having read through this pdf for the US equivalent, I made up a mounting plate in stainless, to fit it "where it should go" and have had no problems since installing the 920 unit.

http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/624...tructionsE.pdf

May be worth asking Elliott where its fitted

It's going to be fitted on the skip if Subaru UK doesn't know where to fit it then it's a poor show.

As I said my 7yr old pioneer was brill.

Going to get a FT20Bt version instead.

The thing is the F320BT, F920BT and F20BT all use the same GPS antenna and if its not in the best place you will probably still get the same problems.

AFAIK the dealers were given the kits and fitting was up to them. I even helped out my local dealership with a fitting query.

Cheers Don I'll get them to check it out, but it's desperately poor, this is three trips I've been on

1) twice it's taken ten minutes and 4 miles before it knew where it was, parked up didn't make any difference so drove 4miles in wrong direction before it realised.... PILE OF DOG POO

2) liverpool liner hotel postcode L3 5QB it took me left 12 times around a triangled peice of road, i would have been still their now but ignored the @@@@@@ stupid thing and asked someone the way FFS once i ignored the left turn the sat nav new the way PILE OF DOG POO

3) Also sometime calls 20yards early or 20yrds late which is a big problem in a major city PILE OF DOG POO

4) went to wales again took ten minutes to decide hich way to go, luckely I guessed right but 3 times dropped the hands free signal with my Iphone had to switch off engine and start up again to reconnect. PILE OF DOG POO

I had 110% confidence in my Avic X1R but about 10% with this F320bt

I spose if Tesco's say, spend £50 and get a blue stripe sausage roll free, don't complain about the grease, as it's free

Well the Blue stripe F320BT is free but if you buy a 320R get it upgraded to at least a F930bt or preferabaly to a F30BT IMHO or just by a Tom Tom and put the F320BT in a blue stripe plastic bag to the tip

IIRC IMHO

Pioneer units state that it has to be fitted 50cm away from the unit itself, subaru uk state that it is to be mounted behind the dash cluster. When I fit them I position them on the passenger side front corner of the dash tucked into the corner where I know it works well

It's not just mine then that has SHYT reception with satelites. Sounds like Subaru have dropped a clanger with the AVIC-320BT.
Anyone worked out how to get the steering wheel phone buttons to work? Mine will only hang up.

I don't know where the sensor is fitted in my car, but both the original 320bt and the upgraded 920bt have no problem getting a signal. The 920 certainly locates the satellites quicker though. The reason I changed was because I didn't like anything about the 320 - radio reception was crap, and it wasn't very easy to operate .
920bt is much better all round.

Just the same as mine. We have gone back to the trusty Road Angel that way we get the camera warning before we pass them.
Even the piggin radio reception is crap it won't pick up half the stations our subaru unit picked up in the hatch and it has a random volume selector at start up.

Just got to find time now to get it back to the dealer.

your car definately hasn't had its nav unit installed correctly by the dealer. The only phone button that won't work is the voice dial, but you should be able to answer and end calls.

the resolution is poor even some small roads in the city's didn't show up at all so took the next left and up the wrong road FFS

I agree, I don't think the Blue Stripe Value freebee sat nav is fit for purpose

Yes the same missing a few local stations that my old pioneer used to pick up

I'd much prefer bragging my car up than complaing about the PILE OF DOG POO called a sat nav

I think the 1K is just an oil change and check over - i've had this on all the new scoobies i've had...its also a chance to bring up any niggles with the dealer too so I've always liked the idea.

Correct my 4 other scoobs the average oil change was 2.5K miles and never lost an engine. So it will also be done at least every 5K minimum.

Better than the 320bt which couldn't find a postcode. Went around a triangle road 23 times. Kept saying Turn left and around and around we went. The triangle was just like a roundabout.

Having read your comments above, I thought I'd check my service manual (Haven't looked at it since buying the car ) only to find that it was for 3.0 Litre N/A and Turbocharged engines 08MY onwards.(SACC7013)

Spoke to my Dealer who ordered up a replacement only to find the booklet for the 1.5 to 3.6 N/A and Turbocharged Engines 08 MY onwards (SACC7017) only covers the 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 Litre N/A engines and the Turbocharged and N/A 3.0 and 3.6 Litre engines.
Nothing for the 2.5 Litre Turbocharged models

Back to the drawing board.

However, none of them require the 1000 mile oil change any more.,

The 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 Litre N/A engines are on a 12K/12 month cycle.
The Turbocharged and N/A 3.0 and 3.6 Litre engines are on a 10K/12 month cycle.

Edit:

Just got a call back to say the 2.5Litre turbocharged models is covered by the

TURBOCHARGED in "Turbocharged and N/A 3.0 & 3.6 Litre models 08MY onwards"

So on a 10K/12month cycle (Budgie)

I had 1k service done but the dealer said it was just what they recommend not what Subaru recommend. Looking at the colour of my oil on 7k I am going to get an oil change in next 500 miles.
