But it also helps that easy jobs are relative to your ability to do the job and speaking personally I'm very good at my job therefore find it easy. I'm not the only one either!

As much as I despise the glib BS'ers that are sales people, it's admittedly a job which requires a certain 'ability'.

What with all this talk about Teachers and their challenging 26 hours a week/20 weeks holiday and 2 payrises per year.
With talk about those (like me) asked to do more for less and standing still financially.
Bankers get huge amounts of money for doing next to nothing.
Estate Agents refuse to look out of the window in the morning because they will have nothing to do in the afternoon.
Car Salesmen are smooth liars and do nothing except on Saturdays.
Firemen sit around all day playing with their Playstation, responding to the odd call from Aunty Wainwright who's cat is stuck up the apple tree ...... and Ethel needs them to fix up a smoke detector.
Doctors are on a good crack at the moment .... loads of money and reduced hours!
Dentists just rip off their poor clients ..... most only have to work 2 days a week for an adequate £100k a year.
Me, a top notch Engineer ... working his socks off, for poxy pay .......![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Footballers, kicking a round ball around and getting silly money ..... I think these win the prize for the award of the most overpaid, least worked, people on earth.
What do you reckon?

When you say vehicle tech is that kind of a more skilled mechanic ?
Doing some car work myself does make you realise how skilled a good all round mechanic is, the term mechanic doesnt do it justice, ok, a tyre fitter doesnt generally have massive skills but a proper mechanic is a really skilled job, I think people assume it is just dirty and involves hitting stuff with a hammer but its about applying force correctly and keeping things clean, funny how it gets looked down on a bit but few people actually try it, or do, fail and send it to an expert.

Someone who appreciates how hard my job is....Your are a rare breed.
Vehicle tech is really a mechanic who has been around a lot......lol........
I have been a HiTec technician at Nissan,Mastertech at Volvo and Tech expert and Ralliart engineer at Mitsubishi in my time....
Now just specialise in diagnostic problems...Mainly other garages or main dealers who have given up and send it to us!
Job gets harder everyday,New tech to learn monthly, new tools to buy monthly.....Labour rates and wages been the same for years..

Not only are you mechanics/tech, you also have to learn plumbing and a huge amount of electronics.
The only trade I can think of that nearly comes to that learning/expenditure curve, is gas engineers.

In the case of the OP , clearly not interviewing individuals to gain the best answers.
Only ask one question at a time....
Maybe in future ask, " What do you consider to be the best payed job in relation to the work involved" .
Open questions do tend to encourage more answers.

I think nowadays it has got harder with all the electronics and complex systems fitted to cars, I understand it as I work with computers and also do a bit of spannering in my spare time, so you need to have a good understanding of the electronics as well as the mechanicals, having to deal with customers as well who want it done for nothing or want you to ignore dangerous faults because they dont want to spend any money on it. Do think it can be a satisfying job if working on nice stuff.

Ha ha. I remember a few years back being on a rig in the N. Sea. Making all sorts of ROP records in top hole, some problems with the skip and ship system and it was pissing it down in winter windy too, the poor Swaco hands were out on deck with shovels trying to keep up looking like drowned rats!![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
