"Definitely, I was surprised how well the Jag did (given the M5 was being driven by Tiff).."

I think that was more down to the editing than Clarkson or Jaguar's prowess. You edit to tell the story you want - otherwise you have no direction!

The Scoob on the C5 prog seemed to understeer loads more than my STi V, but I would edit around that

Question

Good to watch - did like Tiff throwing both cars around the track

One thing confused me though: He did say that the Scoob was prone to understeer (fair enough - almost all cars have some element of understeer) - but (and assuming I read the thread correctly about the guy spinning his STI in the wet) wouldn't Tiff have been able to either a)eliminate or b)at least reduce the effect of the understeer by keeping the power on and letting the front LSD do its job, as opposed to taking his foot off (as he said he did) to correct it?

If this is the case - did Tiff not realise that it had such a device? I've yet to see road tester even mention this, let alone actually demonstrate what it can do.

Was it a standard exhaust on the EVO, it seemed to look different to the 7 I looked at ?

That wasn't an exhaust, that was either a black hole, or a gaping wound ! Deffinately didn't look standard though.

Chris,

forgive the 'technical' expaination! but at that sort of speed it will have no effect; each corner was taken with the whole car drifting.

Anyone else give a proper response??

it wasnt meant to be standard, iot was emant to be an fq300 which according to the lancer register, it wasnt. Apparently it was a shoddy grey import.

How dare you say 'shoddy grey import' on these pages! Blasphemy - unless you are happy to pay more and get less of course!

i think subaru need to come out with something more agressive than the sti 7 to compete with the evo 7,all this ppp is terrible, why not just make decent powered cars in the first place and charge there and then in the showroom,i can justify spending 23k ish on a my01 but 27.5k on sti7 no way,it does have nice brakes though!

evo 7 = pitbull terrier
sti 7 = lilly savage

Back onto the title of the thread, reminds me of my mate who bought the first Honda Accord type R in the UK just after it appeared on Top Gear after being tested (thrashed ?) by Tiff, and then allegedly having an engine rebuild !!! Tiff "engine wrecker" Needell ?? Would you let him "test" your car ??
(I put the allegedly in for obvious reasons !)

Mo - good point! I'm no technical whiz on this subject, just an observation. It what you say is true - isn't this the exact moment when you might need some help!!

In addition, it would still be good for someone with a fairly high degree of car control to actually demonstrate the pros and cons of the front LSD.

Chris ( Slightly off topic I know )

Following my post on page 2 of this thread and the test drive Tiff did in the 0-60 in 2.9s Tiger, in which he put a a rod through the block of one of the engines, I rest my case !!
