15yrs ago ish I was caught at an average of 99.5mph over a few miles stretch ... 6pts & a few £'00 was the fine. You'd be well unlucky to get a ban below 100mph imho.

Same here! Offered 3pts & £60 fine ... long story short it went to court where I got 6pts & £800 fine

What they should have told you is that once you surrender your driving licence the fixed penalty ticket is filled out with your licence details and is valid as your licence. I once used a Fixed penalty notice for proof for lots of driving related things..

Whilts producers arent really used anymore if you are issued with an FPN(E) and dont surrender your licence at the roadside you will still be required to produce at a station. Just that HORT/1 forms arent really used these days on their own

If you are stopped and cant prove you are who you claim to be then a producer is the least of your worries.

the downside is the points are on your license for FOUR YEARS.

Only 3 points I got back in May 2007 have only just cleared. Shining license again (for how long god knows, the first 3 point were on my scoob. 76 in a 60)

they only count towards the totting up procedure for 3 years, 4 years is the time at which you can have them physically removed from your licence.

Hey don't worry too much, Look North the other night revealed there are people in Bradford and Leeds still driving with 20 points on their licenses! One owned an I.T. firm employing 6 people, he told the court without his license not only would his business suffer but also all the people who worked for him. Court let him off and he is still driving...who insured him with that many points i have no idea.

If the worst comes to the worst you get what you would have got in the first place so alls well that ends well.
sort of screwed if they have photo evidence. you have just perjured yourself.

My case goes to court i get 6 points and a £600 pound fine. good news is i still have not be done for speeding, Money grabbing barstuerds if you can fight them go for it, you do however have my sympathy. good luck to all as the motorist is a very well hunted animal
Police lie too, so you give in.

Firstly as the Registered keeper you have to meet certain condition if sent a S172 notice. You dont need to know who was driving at any given point whilst the car is not in your possession.

Secondly its not due diligence, it is reasonable diligence, which is completely different in level of action . If you check the RTA & RTOA, you will find that its says 'reasonable'.

Your best bet in fighting unjust actions is to join pepipoo.com. They will help sort out the misinformation and lies touted by the police/safety partnerships.

August 2005 joining the motorway I got pulled for doing three figures as I pulled out in front of an unmarked car, not the smartest thing to do, and tbh I have done some serious growing up since

I sweet talked them down to a two figure speed, got a producer, slap on the wrist, 3 points, with £60 fine.

To say I was only too happy to get of lightly is an understatement. Never been pulled over or caught for speed since (touch wood).

I would admit liabilty mate if it was me, ok ignore the letter once if you like, but im guessing its all automated by now so they will catch up with you.

Now this is truth having done a company defender driving course, Gatso's and road side camera vans only use half of the pictures they take as they havent the resources to process them all, this was from a study 2 years ago, things have probably changed since then.

You won't get a speed awareness course for that, it's over 30% more than the speed lit, you have to be under 15%, had the same issue and they wouldn't offer the course (clean license at the time), 3 pts and a 60 quid fine unfortunately

First things first, ask for photo evidance, once you have this make the dessicion on a app, if the photo is poor and the number plate is hard to read you have more chance of wining the app.

It goes by the percentage your over, otherwise you could theoretically get away with doing 90mph in a 70mph zone

i was stopped by a unmarked police car on the M11 in April he said he clocked me at 95 mph but let me of with a warning as he thought it was not excessive these days in modern cars on motorways. he said i was lucky i was not stopped by the white cap traffic police as they are @ss H@les, his words not mine.

my father ignored a speeding ticket for doing 57 in a 50 average speed zone on the A127 southend and eventually they stopped, he heard nothing for 4 months now

Unless you absolutely know you were not traveling at the speed alleged and have evidence to support this, or can be 100% confident a loophole does exist I'd be taking the slap on the wrist and accepting it.

In fact I'm not sure I'd even want to go down the loop hole route if I knew I'd broken the law (speeding or other) and could not morally justify doing so to myself. Too many people are happy to find loopholes and wriggle their way out of things for what they believe are arbitrary laws covering petty offenses. They'd be the same people up in arms if someone broke the law damaging them in some way and got off due to a loophole. They'd be moaning from here to eternity about 'loopholes' then

I'm not trying to get out with a loop hole. It is what I was told by the police. Been driving 20 years and never had any points and I am a biker to. So I see no harm in doing a speed awareness course for an extra £20 to keep my lience clean. Why not take them up on the offer, if I get that offer of course?

The police have upto 6 months to lay information with the, court. So your father isn't out of the woods yet. If after 7-9 months you haven't received a summons, then you can breath easily.

A lot of the fines and points on this post must have been a while ago as the penalties have gone up.

In Jun-10 I was caught doing 97mph on a dual carriageway, 27mph above limit.

Went to court at the end of Sep-10 IIRC.

They seem to have a strict template of how the fine is calculated.

Basically it's a weeks wages, court fees plus some donation to victims of crime fund.

Best bet, you plead gulity you get a 20% discount WTF!!!

Anyway got the fine as calculated and 6 points on my license.

But I can look on the bright side, the Police do a good job, look at London PMSL! Too busy getting the easy convictions.
