17 posts for Shawshank Redemption, the most over-rated, over-hyped film in the history of the world, to make an appearance. At least it wasn't in the first five posts this time, maybe people are coming to their senses.

Now if you want to talk over-rated let's look at the utter bollocks that is The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Gladiator is a fave of mine. I like all those 'epics'. But I noticed last night "Alexander" was on. What a complete disaster of a film that was - made in the wake of Gladiator and Troy IIRC. Such a story they had to tell and they had to go and spoil it! Hopefully someone will come along in a few years and do it justice.

As with all things, taste in movies is subjective, what you hate I might like and vice versa!!
Have to go with the masses and say I loved The Shawshank Redemption

I'm a child of the 60s/70s so remember those films especially. Charging up to the West End to a few Beer Kellers (spelling?) and then a midnight premier.....
I was also a Steiger fan before he did that silly Rabbit stuff so "In the Heat of The Night" and "The Long Good Friday"
There were some powerful Vietnam fims around too, "Deer Hunter" and others.
"Don't Look Now" where Miss Christie (need I say more)....![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
"Bonnie and Clyde" and "The Sting" must be on the list
