Went for the test drive....deposit paid....looking at delivery in Sept

Can't wait, feel proper excited. The car has so much low down grunt, it was cruising in 5th gear at 1,200 rpm through the town quite happily. But boot it and all hell breaks loose quickly, very little turbo lag and lots of torque from about 3000rpm.

And sooooooo much grip, was totally surprised as thought my Scoob had lots already. And the steering was so responsive, slight move on the wheel and the cars turning already.

The flappy paddles were better than expected but would probably still prefer manual box...may be they will grow on me, it was only a 30 minute test drive.

This beast will be put on track I recon, as it feels like it wants some track action. The insurance company I got a quote from said five UK track days are included and two European ones are included with the base policy.

The dealer said no need to service it after the track day unless oil temps have gone past a threshold. He said do four or five laps and let it cool for 20-30 minutes. To be honest, if I track it I'd probably get oils changed the 9000 mile service intervals seem a bit long otherwise?

Exhaust sounds a bit quiet though, so I recon a Miltek Y-pipe will need to go on.

Here's some pics of the demo car:

Rear carbon diffuser

This helps finish the package

Not a million miles away

It's going to take a while to adapt to the GTR, totally different feel to the Scoob. 1200 miles running in will help...

Also annoying was the position of the rear view mirror blocking road view to left (I'm 6' 4"), but i read a thread on GTR forum that says mirror has three positions?

If you wiggle the wing mirror while pressing up the mirror tucks up so the top edge is basically on the roof and it frees up that visibility

Yours must be nuts with 600lbft+, the one i drive today felt a torque monster with stock 450lbft. Does a Y-pipe make much difference on power/torque?

Eye, Scooby meet gate crash

Shame the sqealer didn't know that trick, I complained about the mirror on the test drive and we talked about ripping the stock one off and replacing with something smaller out of my vision...

Yes it pulls look a freight train, it's the response and delivery of it all that never fails to amuse me y-pipe they reckon maybe 10bhp more but it's the noise just changes the whole driving experience for the better one note of caution that stock map with y pipe is rich, no bad thing but those four exhausts don't half kick out a lot of soot and unburnt fuel so just keep on top of the rear bumper

I'll keep an eye on the rear bumper, same happened to the Scoob and once it's out of control it's difficult to get back without some decent chemicals.

once the cars are run in we should meet up.

I'm off for a beer

You have to say buying a GT-R is a great choice - it is very good value given it is sold at substantially less than cost.

I don't think they are sold at substantially less than cost.....even if they were what relevance does that have, it's great value at 70k for the fact that it's quicker than a veyron round TG test track

Graham, did you go for the paint protection? I wasn't sure when I ordered, but I've been doing some research and the company Nissan use is Trobos:

http://www.triboscoatings.com

I remember paying the Scooby dealer to apply DiamondBrite before pickup and it made a difference for the first couple of years. The car cleaned up to a good shine real easy.

So the above is probably a better version of DiamondBrite?

Never got offered or asked.

Had to go back and for the tracker.

But not a fan of the things, prefer a good detailer....

I might give this coating a try, I won't be buying a new car again for a while...

I declined on the Nissan tracker, it's only GSM based from the research I did (made by Cobra) and near double the price of 3rd party ones.

I'm getting a Tracker Locate (uses GSM and VHF):

http://www.tracker.co.uk/tracker/Tra...eSecurity.aspx

Best price I found, plus £174 anual subscription.

That's not too bad... May look into that

Only thing is I like the idea of being able to immobilise the car by remote

Good vid, that must be some felling 3 x stock power and at the wheels too? Take away the American Dyno factor and probably 1200bhp at the fly

How much though!?

About £61K, I'll better start saving now.

Are there any results in for COBB custom tuning on MY11? Curious to know if the revised intake and exhaust tweaks will help final power and torque?

From what I gather the MY11 makes about 10-15bhp more than a My09/10 with full deceit, intakes and injectors......which is probably a reflection of the revised turbo inlet pipe.....% gains over stock obviously less as it already has 50bhp more thanks to revised ecu and stuff you pointed out above

I heard on some youtube clip the standard exhaust has been tweaked to flow a bit more so I wondered if a Y-pipe and custom tune would release a bit more combined with the larger intakes.

So what's the crack with warranty and tracking? Do you need the pre and post services or just take it in for service if the oil temps go past a threshold?

Anders
