You doubt that over-fuelling can cause problems?

Went back to standard recirculating valve like I said I would in previous post after bov issues with leaks etc and now no leaks which is good but now it's hesitant and feels like it misses randomly, this doesn't happen all the time and to be honest cars a bit jeckle and Hyde as does something different each time. I have since replaced the y pipe on underside of intercooler to rule out age and deterioration as I read this can sometimes cause these issues. The misfiring hesitation problem has now gone but I now have fluctuating boost, sometimes I only get .7 of a bar and then other times even on same journey will go up to 1 bar. Have also been on motorway on boost with full throttle and boost was bouncing between .9 and 1.1 bar. Any ideas? It's 2003 standard wrx

Well if the boost was being held rock solid before you fitted the BOV, then yes, suspect the BOV.

It sounds like it could be creeping open/closing every now and again under high boost - hence the fluctuating boost.

Simple control you can do: simply refit the OEM recirc.!.............. And leave it on.

Hopefully it'll sort your issue.

I read it that he already has re-fitted the standard valve but still has hesitation and boost issues.
May be the standard dumpvalve needs replacing.

Oops, if that's the case then apologies - I overlooked that.

EDIT: It's only mentioned at the very beginning of his post! FAIL!

kevo, on the FMIC's hard piping (usually on the one from FMIC-to-throttle body), there's usually a take-off port to fit a DV/BOV*. You simply need a short length of straight, or tapered, silicone hose of suitable inner diameter/s and 2 jubilee clips to fit it**. Plus obviously refit the small vac hose from the IM to the top of the DV.

* If your Classic is a MY99/00, and you intend to reuse the OEM recirc DV, then you'll need to get hold of the appropriate DV flange adaptor off harvey, so that the DV is able to fit the FMIC's DV take-off.

** If you are refitting the OEM recirc - or indeed any aftermarket recirc - then, in addition to all of the above, you'll also have to contrive the recirc hosing back to the turbo intake.

can i just bump this thread again instead of starting a new one . i had a few mods done including getting an hks bov fitted took it to jgm to get it mapped and all was good ....... for a day , then the idle started going a bit mental and sometimes just dropping and stalling . the adaptor plate i was sent with the bov didnt fit it so my mechanic who knows his scoobys hacked a few bits off it so it could fit . so a couple of questions.... does anyone think there is a leak round the bov that is casing the idle probs and where can i get a proper one to fit my blob sti as i cant seem to source them anywhere. or is this another issue? the engine managemnt light has come on twice indicating '02 sensor' . !!! any help would be much appreciated, cheers

Sounds more like the MAFS to me. Have you put an induction kit on ? and is it stalling when your slowing down at lights or roundabout's, when you put the clutch in. I had a problem like this and it turned out to be the MAFS

And have you tried to put something around your BOV like washing up liquid with water to see if it blows any bubbles or show's some sign of a leak. And as for buying another back nplate sorry I can't help there

FAR better to have started a new thread.
People arte fed up with the constant war of words over BOV's you'll get little help.

thanks for the reply . will try washing up liquid round it . it only did the stalling thing once when i was driving it out of sainsburys . you can imagine how annoying it is moving off in first putting the clutch down to stop and the revs just drop and die. it actually hasnt done it since but what it does now is if i rev it the revs dropto say 600 then pop up to 1000 then settle back to 800 . not major i know but it never did this before . spoke to my mechanic and he said to actually bond the bov to the intercooler. has anyone tried this.?

I know exactly what you mean with your rev's, samething i had not all the time but from time to time it would doit and stallout, might just need a clean if your lucky. possible a split pipe somewhere I had a right game tracking down the problem had smoke and full diagnostics done and they found nothing, I cleaned the MAFS and still did it. I can't remember why I bought a new one in the end now but it solved the problem for me. But I would just check all the air intake pipes 1st for splits or not a tight seal again can be tested the same as what I said with the BOV. And I've not bonded before, but can only see a problem with that when or if you want to remove it.
