If it was a short in the Dyson you would expect the plug fuse to blow and no damage.
It would be unusual for the Dyson plug to cause all that damage so by your description it sounds like a fault in the wall socket or in the wiring of the ring main.
I would think as I suggested that it might be worth getting a professional to check it initially rather than Dyson, it might save you a good bit of money.
