ive always come to the conclusion that the bigger the filter you can fit the better, and the more cold air you can get to it the better, you could fit a filter similar in length, maybe a little longer but quite a bit wider and have the funnel filter(the one with the hole in the centre) to maximise the potential of cold air flow.(hence why i want to shorten the maf pipe and put a BIG filter in.

my brother is a wiz at stuff like this so ill trust he will think of something good, after all im only looking for 320bhp or close too.
alot of people dont even have partitions at all, some dont even run a cold air feed and still dont have any probs,i think we will still fit a filter in the engine bay,but it will be a big one with a 3" cold air feed directly to it from bumper and possibly a partition,(not sure wether to or not tbh). im sure that will be good enough.....if not then my mapper would not have advised this route...surely?

I'm only getting this myself now as it's an issue with wmy running. It's not so much a temp to aim for, nore how much more the ACT is than the ambient air temp.
On a road mapping session with the std WRX top mount ACT was 40° when ambient was a recorded 12!
RR session ambient 26 (guess), ACT 41, temp at air intake 50!
