That can be a path fraught with dilemmas. When you find out that the kid's grandparents were struggling to keep themselves going somewhere in a village in Iraq/Afghanistan perhaps growing a few poppies to raise some money to send their kid to school when at midnight some US soldiers kick your door in, abuse your sister and accuse you of anything they can think of. Something for the kid to remember and we wonder why so many hate the West?

Are you suggesting that the US don't kick down doors and terrify the local population on occasions? All in the vain US belief that they are giving the country freedom and democracy.
Or are you saying that if above is the case then some little kid would quickly forget it?
As you should realise I was writing in general terms, not specifically about the subject of the OP as I don't have clue about his background.

Otherwise you are just reinforcing the Islamist narrative that all Muslims are one and the victimhood (real or imaginary) of Muslims in Iraq make the Muslims of the UK victims too and justified in carrying out terrorist attacks.

Why does his 'upsetness' carry more weight that say yours or mine, and give him the right to do this? Are you saying it is because he is Muslim? Why should a Muslims 'upsetness' over an illegal war be 'special'?

Most of the Iraqis were killed by Islamists in sectarian violance.

I did not say that it gave him the excuse to go around attacking people which it does not of course, but purely pointed out why he might feel that way and underlined the illegality of Billy Liar's actions in starting an illegal war with his egregious friend over the Atlantic for his own selfish purposes.
Would you feel that way towards some lout who attacked and killed someone close to you?
