I was showing mine to my Grandma yesterday, she is pretty with it for someone of 88, I showed her Google Street view and she got it totally, she looked at her old house where she lived as a girl which would be difficult for her to get to even though its only a couple of miles away as she isnt as mobile these days and they no longer have a car, she was soon zooming in and out and moving round, shows how good they have got if older, non geek ladies can use them.

I use mine as an MP3 player daily. Use it for surfing the web, playing games, making calls, sending texts but also for work.

I've sync'd my work calendar so I get notifications on my phone when I'm away from my computer for meetings/teleconfrences etc...

I decided not to sync my work mail because I get too many for it to be efficient.

Oh yeah and the camera is the main reason I went for this version.

Use mine a lot more than I though I would.
Work emails, web browsing, playing games, MP3, Facebook.
Everything on it just works, unlike any other phone I have had before.

Battery life is a bit of pain, but understandable considering how much I use it compared to any other phone that I have had.

Use mine constantly.
Browsing. EBay. Mapping and sat nav not to mention lots of other things, I could be without it but it would be very inconvenient.

tbh, the more I use mine, the more I feel it's a gadget. Let me explain why.

I work in a heavily IT-based sector (not IT ), so I have 24/7 access to computers and network/internet.
My car has a SatNav multi-media stereo system with an ipod bolted onto it. Bluetooth handsfree is available when I driving (although rarely used). Any email etc usually can wait until I get home (or to work).
Games? meh. I've got proper hardware for that.

The *only* other thing I've got on it is a GPS rangefinder for my Golf. But I can live without that.

I hit the same conclusion before I got my current phone - do I actually need a smartphone? (or even a phone at all) - begrudgingly, Wifey made me have a phone, and the only reason I stayed with smartphones was because of the contract-time commitments (certainly not shelling out cash up-front) - and if I'm committing to a 2 yr contract, I want something that will last the 2 years without fail..... smartphones seem to be the only option for this criteria.

Personally, my lappy & desktop machines are FAR more important than the phone.

Phew, at least i'm not the only one, Dan

I'm surrounded by computers all day long. Apart from social networking, which i can do at home, i can't think of good enough reasons to pay a monthly contract for something like an iPhone. But then i still own lerds of vinyl records so what do i know
