Nicely said Jon I think you have put your side across nicely. I know you live and breath petrol so I say keep up the good work :-)

As some of the replies might suggest I am a real petrol head who happens to have sold Subaru's for over 25 years and been involved with warranty friendly mods for all of that time . I am am incredibly passionate about the Impreza model and have done my best in Time attack to represent the owners Clubs and all Impreza drivers by taking on the much more powerful Mitsubishi Evo's in what was considered a slower and uglier car ( does that count ?) .
I would love to see a stock type class in TA as would most of the fans and would petition for it if there was enough backing from the owner / drivers .

I am sorry that some consider our entry sinister I genuinely thought all scooby fans would be behind us perhaps some of the doubters should come up to the round at Angelsey and see what it's really all about or even better enter , i would gladly help anyone with a Subaru wanting to enter .

I think that's fair enough, would really like to come to one that's down my end of the country and support the Subaru teams.
The problem is with the rules and too big a gap in what you can enter with it would seem, a lower class would be good

[quote=Itsaboutwinning;10164833]Racing is about corner speeds, power to weight and balance not who's got the most graphics on there car or most horse power. Driver ability is also a requirement.

Maybe you need some graphics on the car to beat that fwd CRX!

Jon,

Admittedly I could have been a little less emotional with my opening post but the message i'm trying to get across remains the same.

I don't doubt your enthusiasm for the sport or the marque for that matter.

That said, I still stand by the fact that in my opinion you should not be in Club class.
You own a subaru dealership and you also have a substantial tuning company backing you. You're not the only one that's for sure but all the Pro R livery and promotion makes it a tad blatent which of course is the point but a tad OTT for a club entry.

As said my view of club class is for the DIY bloke who's built his car on his driveway or in his garage at home and not someone who owns a dealership with plenty of facilities no doubt.

After thinking about this more its fair to say that the TA rules and the way they are enforced is more of an issue, you're just taking advantage of the rules or lack there of. To be fair I cant blame you for that.

Incedently I'm not a TA novice per se, I've been to every round of TA for the last three years with the exception of Knockhill that I went to for the first time this year. I now offer my help and spanner for one of the pro class entires.

I'll come and say hello at Anglesea though afterall I love TA and Subarus too. I was just highlighting something that was blatently obvious from a spectators point of view and it was good to hear your side of the story.

Hopefully you're going to compete next year (in Club Pro of course) where we can compare notes (and times) when I do one if not more OHW slots.

Take it easy

Daz

We were interested enough to want to get involved with Time Attack, and we're very happy with the three podium places Paul Doyle has achieved so far. He's in the Pro class, which we figured had to be the fastest, and the best possible test for our engine. Backed by KSport, he hasn't got a massive budget, which is why he's also happy for the parts supplied by Lateral Performance, and the expertise offered by Paul Blamire, who is an absolute diamond to have in your pit at meetings. Having our name attached to the fastest Subaru certainly doesn't hurt, and my staff are rightly proud of the positive feedback from the series.

I've been involved in competitive motorsport for several decades, and occasionally you come across a situation where the money is doing a lot of the talking. I also part sponsor a classic touring car, a Cosworth Sapphire, which is being pedalled around very well indeed by an old (61) friend, who is still showing the whipper snappers the way around. He's up against a few others who are spending a damn sight more than he is, but he still scares the pants off them by dint of not giving up. He won his class in the championship last year, and is still right on the pace. One day, he's going to get that outright win, which will be all the sweeter for having had to earn it.

There is a saying that goes like "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king". I'd take that to mean that it doesn't matter what sport you're into, there's always somebody who is better off, and just maybe you can find your way around enough to poke him in his one good eye.
