If Renault do make the new Clio Williams, I may very well get rid of both my cars and buy one of them instead. Will it be faster (in a straight line) than a TTRS? No. But I bet it will be more fun on any given back road.

Big bhp doesn't mean you can't go round corners!
I guess from a road car perspective though enjoying acceleration as opposed to cornering is easier on the road as you can boot it when conditions are safe and allow you to do so, but going round the corner enthusiastically always has the risk of the unknown being round the bend.....not condoning speeding/racing on public roads before the calvaly mount their high horses!!
The TT boys love 30-130 as it's the only discipline the car 'excels' in

theres a lad on seatcupra.net im guessing his was the one on the 30-130. He got good results. he has ploughed a wad of cash into it though. its about 420bhp 0-60 in 3.8 something like that.
A 270z would be nowhere near one imo, but a stage 2 rs would be nowhere near a gtr.

The car i've had the most fun in, only had 120bhp. A 106GTI.

It was good, but not as good as the Exige.

Map and exhaust will see a sub 9 sec 0-100 time in these and that's a manual. S-Tronic and the same mods and you will see some daft figures for a 'Hairdressers car'.. lol.
So yes, they are GTR fast when slightly fettled (to a ton at least anyway).
They don't handle to bad either, especially with a few suspension mods..

You may not be "about just numbers" mate, but the stopwatch doesn't lie i'm afraid..
At the 30-130 day last year, Jason's TTRS was about 1 sec slower than the R35 GTR that was also running. Jason's is also a manual, so a S-Tronic TTRS (same as the GTR's box) would make it very interesting..
I do understand that not everyone is into straight line speed and it isn't what a car is all about. But there is no doubting the TTRS is a very capable car, especially when even mildly fettled..

So could a 88 Nova with £5k chucked at it.. But that's hardly the point is it mate?
The OP mentioned that a mapped TTRS didn't feel any quicker than his 300bhp STI. When in reality it would mother it..
Anybody can buy an old car and chuck £1000's at the engine, but we're talking about a £500 map here and how capable it can make it. Yes the GTR can be mapped too and make it even quicker and I agree modded vs stock isn't worth comparing to a certain degree. But all I am doing is correcting the guy who said a stock GTR would "destroy" a fettled TTRS, when it fact it clearly wouldn't do anything of the sort..

I certainly didn't mean to start a war and wasn't trolling!

Yeah you was, look what you've started now?!?! LOL
Fair enough though, Ze German cars do mask speed very well. Especially compared to Rally bred Jap saloons that are all about the sense of speed and seat of your pants entertainment..

Close friend of mine has a TTRS running a bluefin, it is just over 400bhp on the rollers and no it doesnt feel it in the slightest, but it is a heavy car.
As for the quotes of what times they can run, here is the link to the results from the 1/4 at GTi International 2011 which I attended in the TTRS. 3 of the top 5 times in the Audi class are TTRS's but you will see that they all hit mid 11's and trust me these are HIGHLY tuned TTRS's running big power with thousands of pounds spent and massive research done by the likes of TTS and Revo. You will struggle to find many faster TTRS's that these boys

Definitely for £5k - but it needs skill - not just some rubbish bolt on parts.
You also need to buy the right Scoob - an RA is much, much, much lighter than a TTRS so does not need such a power uplift.
