One of the reasons why I sold it - kept breaking the gearbox. At the time there weren't that many options - better now.

My 1st attempt last night, was a little warmer than I was hoping for at 18c but not too bad regardless.

Apologies for the dance music, forgot to switch it off...

Is the 30-130 done from sitting at 30 and flooring it or from a standing start and the clock starts as the car passes 30? I assume these two methods could yield very different times

^^ You choose you own method ... some are faster than others the clock starts at 30 whether you're hovering just below it or accelerating from zero.

TX.

PS

For me a standing start was slower (extra gear change involved?). I was quicker accelerating from c20mph in 2nd gear rather than in 1st from zero

PPS

Leo gets from 30-100 in 6.5s which is pretty good imho. I'd like to see a run to 130 though

Do you have your own private airfield for these high speed runs

Didnt realise they were so fast. Looked a few vids up on youtube but nothing mindblowing. 1 where an E92 M3 was pulling away rolling start.

I work at an airport/airfield yes.

There's a lot of videos around, a good video of a TTRS and an M5 at vmax probably the most popular, there's also a few with R8/C63 amg etc and then the S-tronics are quite a bit quicker than the manuals.

30-130 has come down to 11.86, certainly more to go with cooler ambient temps, car was getting a little heat soaked about 110mph last night.I also need to remove the primary cats to free it up a bit more but so far so good, 1st effort in the middle of the summer, it can only get quicker as temps drop later in the year.

Saying all that, at Marham/Bruntingthorpe, there's usually a lot of queuing, lot of heat soak before you set off so times out on the open (private) road are always going to be better than what they are going to be queuing at these events. My aim at Marham at the next MLR event will be to do the 30-130 in around 12secs which for 410hp is not too shabby.

Yeh it's decent, but i dont see him piling on another 30mph on top of that 100 in another second...i'm just confused that hes argued about 30-130 and then comes back to us with all the other stats bar the one he's been banging on about.....perhaps the 18degree "heat" is creating too much hot air for his turbo

Another second? Jesus, I'm not in a Veyron (7.5 30-130 is insane and way out of my league)

100-130 is about 5.4secs, i'll try and get a plot up.

edit.....Here's my best 30-130 so far...(As to ambient temps, I dont need to tell you, your car is quicker in the winter do I This is the middle of August remember )

Yep, I managed 7.74 so not quite 7.5 but close enough just now.

As to 30-130, well, as above, around 12secs just now give or take. Im sure its got a bit more in it though when it cools down a little, I noticed it heatsoaking last night 110ish.

how do these times compare back to your old TTRS, how much has the magical gearbox saved you in shift times?

Ambient temps may get you the power, but then you get less traction as tyres are cold. It's all compromise!!!

I have to say that video is incredible...

Yes, 11.65 @ 122mph last night.

Alloy, my best manual 30-130 time was 12.06 so I've only knocked 0.2secs off that so far. However, my 12.06 was back in March when temps were 5c, last night they were 18.5c so I cant really compare until I run with much lower ambients.

My manual car was around 0-100 in 8.7 (420hp/490lbft) My S-Tronic car so far is 7.74 (410hp/445lbft)

So Ive saved a second on the ton already and Im sure I can shave close to a second off the 30-130 too.

Do you have access to a vbox mate? I dont think i'd get anywhere near yours but it would be interesting to see what 600hp GTR's are doing? I guess sub 7 and around 10sec 30-130

Are you going to go to the next event?

Just as well I was on a big wide runway

I do agree with you though, there's a compromise on the 0-xxx stuff as what you gain in traction when its warm you lose higher up and vice versa, but 30-130 should definitely improve. I doubt I'll improve on the 0-100 7.7, there's maybe a 7.5 at a push but I wouldn't think anymore than that. 30-130 I'm hoping to get down to around 11secs on the road which I suspect will be more like 12secs at Marham. That's the aim anyway.

I bet your GT3RS is pretty nippy 30-130, I dont think I've heard of any doing the MLR event yet.

i've been saying this to you from the beginning, you cant compare any test that wasnt conducted at the same time under the same conditions

I'll have a look when i get home see if i can find where the cleaner has put my 1/4 mile strips and grab the 1/8th mile and ET time off them from my last run to get an idea on what the GTR does it in.....

When is the next event? I'll be at Santa Pod on the 21st....come see me run my first pass in the 10's

I think it's once per year, last MLR event was back in March so I guess early next year.

I'm up in Aberdeen, I wish we had a decent 1/4m track up here but Crail is pi** poor. Santapod a little too far for me unfortunately :-(

Fair play, they are impressive figures.

Was the cost of part ex'ing a manual TTRS for a Auto TTRS really worth it for 0.2seconds?

I know I'm old fashioned but I always prefer to change my own gears. More interaction with the car, than simply flicking a Finger.

To be honest you dont even need to flick a finger. In S mode, you just keep the foot planted and hold onto the steering wheel until you lift off. M mode, yes you would use the gear lever or the paddles to change.

It is uninvolving and I do miss the manual gearbox now and again, flatshifting was an art, but M mode is okay with the paddles.

Nice vid Mitch and incredible times.. Looking forward to seeing it at Marham mate. Be very interesting to see what it achieves.. Don't forget that Marham starts off uphill, so like you say, expect to see slower times than on the road (as Pov did by a good second or so).

What was the best 0-60 run you did since mapped out of interest? Not that it will be a huge amount quicker than before I shouldn't imagine..

Edit - Just seen it mate... Doh!

Fair play and hat off to you LEO. Theres always lots of similar talk on forums and its good to see some evidence backing up your claims and answering the critics.

I like the sleeper aspect. Ive only ever seen a handful of TTRS on the road and even then thought they looked great. I looked at standard TT for a while but couldnt live with the lack of practicality. The RS's are well out of my budget as seem to be fairly pricey still 2nd hand.

Keep thinking how amazing the performance is, hard to comprehend something tha goes to 100 in the same time as most quick cars do sixty, thinkits because its "only a TT" and people see them as Lukewarm to tepid, but I guess to be fair it isnt a cheap car, a bargain once remapped for the thrust available but its not like its ten grand, its the thick end of 50, even so, amazing to see what cars it beats in a straight line, it replaces the 335D(mapped) as the new unfeasably fast for what it is car.

The figures you are quoting indicate the great advantage of AWD in getting low standard start times, and the benefit of the DSG box. A through the gears run has less advantage as you are already moving.

Interesting that 100 in 7.74 and yet it takes nearly another 4s to add 22mph!!!
