My 500bhp/tonne project is going to be a £30k build by the time im finished and thats doing 90% of the work myself!
its very very easy to get a reliable 400bhp it all just depends on funds...............even 500bhp is the norm these days..........fighting for a reliable 600+ is becoming more and more also........the barrier is now a reliable 650/700+...............but again its all about the funds available..........and the tech is changing on a daily basis making more possible

for 15k you can get a reliable 450/480 6 speed or ppg box and clutch and uprated brakes...............

It is all about reliability. I am doing everything 110% and if i breaks it will be improved.
Build probably could be done cheaper but as they say. Do it right do it once

New 20G, 12 month warranty is £850 and fitted for £900. 380 + BHP.
MD321H is 390-400 bhp. Cost???
MD321T is around 450 bhp. £1500 +
SC 42 is 400, perhaps 420 bhp. Cost???
I think you should compare apples with apples.

Roller bearing SC42 Billet is £1245 + vat and carriage and you should allow for an uprated inlet system too. If you are still on a top entry intake system then convert it to front entry like this.

Before

After

And all being well you could potentially be looking at this.
