I got blanked tonight, by Steven Darley in his RCMS liveried hatch...
but us bugeye owners take the brunt of the abuse...
I had a UK classic, and was about to spank loads of money on it, but I really liked the bugeye STI which had all the benefits of a modified classic but came with a three year warranty.

If you spend thousands on a scooby or any other rice rocket, then, financially speaking, you are a mug and people are entitled to look down on you.

We are all ok up north in Cumbria and Tyne tees Scoobies
Good mixture of cars in Cs we have 7 new age hatches and lots of other models
In TTS some fantastic classics and lots of bug/blob/hawk eyes and a couple of new age hatches
All mix together
The majority of the club members now tend to be 30-mid 40s and we get on well together
Most are second cars for their owners And we have a good mixture of incomes and wealth but are all one family up north

After reading all of the above thread it seems to me (a proper enthusiast) that yes people do seem to favour those that have spent so called proper money on there cars and not got down the cheaper route of modding with second hand parts.
And the end of the day its all about what you want who gives a flying **** what others think anyway ! thats my opinion ,i personally prefer the classic impreza as this was the car in my ara always wanted one but could never afford one eventually got the money together and bought an sti type r in 2004 cost me a fortune and had alot of so called friends ...!
Left the seen for a while and having a mid life crises bought another to turn into a track car spent loads on it but thats my choice i love it working on it and soon to be doing what i enjoy most driving it..!
If people turn there nose up at you because you arn't spending money on the next set of defi's at £500 a pop then they aint worth knowing ,a true enthusiast like myself will bend over backwards to help any other like minded person, trading second hand parts to help others out and purchasing what you can afford is what its all about for me ,had a great 7 years on here and have got to know who's worth knowing on here and who i wouldn't pi$$ on if they were on fire, (excuse the pun).
What im trying to say is classic or newage new 330 or blobeye like minded enthusiast's will always be willing to help and give a positive answer to your comment but in the end its your descision as to how you spend your money and on what ,if they can't give constructive crititism in a positive manner then they aint worth listening too.
Enjoy your car and dont get reeled in by them not worth knowing.

i think the problem comes from the fact that classics are affordable to the chav element and that any classic owner gets tarred with the same brush, but the fact is the classic is where it all begun, all the tuning companies own one, race one etc and i would bet the most business they do is on classics, but who gives a flying monkeys f*** what anyone else thinks,i was perfectly happy to keep my uk turbo totally original until it broke and it was cheaper for me to upgrade than to go standard,i will wave at any impreza whever it be classic ,newage, rusty, chavved up,modded, lady driver, man driver or even if i cant stand the look of it,if i dont get a wave back or get dismissed when talking to other owners then they quite obviously are not impreza enthusiasts in my eyes,so enjoy what you got and dont let anyone that doesnt spoil it for you!

If ANYONE loves the car and wants to join in with the cars club, what gives anyone the right to take the ****?? The sooner we stop judging people as being inferior the better, as no matter who you are you can ALWAYS find someone "better off" than you, so why feel the need to be insecure and make someone else feel inferior??
Not having a go at you STU, but its that mentality that to me is the problem. As it breeds the air of superiority.

P.S. I used to think anyone messing with a sport was insane, but now I appreciate some youngster might get a buzz from owning one they can insure.

I get that feeling over on Piston Heads if I am honest.
Not noticed it on here.
Just owning one there days with costs of running it and that hasn't been nicked, wrapped around a tree or set fire to in London is a good thing at th mo.

When i had my skyline i was active on their forums , helped out others etc (lol too active) sold it to start a family
Got a subaru with the same hopes to get right back in it....with the amount of idiot/snoobish replys i thought no chance...bit sad really thought it was going to be a better community as you dont need a left bollock and kidney to modify like a subaru
