I'm with the OP. Sorry, but if you say you brought something, when you mean you bought it, you need re-educating.
Seems like at least 50% of people posting on forums and ebay use brought instead of bought
Do people actually say "brought" instead of "bought" when speaking? I've not heard it yet....

When I was growing up the teachers didn't excatly teach us. they mearly baby sat until 3pm. Comming from a large family ( 8kids) I didn't get the training required to be a **** hot speller.
I used to suffer from confusion with the over there, it's theirs, hear here, know no etc.
I didn't like asking for advise as i was about 25yrs old
Now being 28 Brought & Bought has just come to my attention - so I will bring better grammer to the table.
Thank you for bringing a ***** to it

I always thought is was a regional thing that some people just don't get.
Here in yam yam ville people use brought and bought totally the wrong way around.
I had to reach Mr P an easy way to remember you cannot say 'I have bought you some flowers back' instead he could have 'bought them from the shop, and BROUGHT them home with him'.
He still didn't get it!!
So I said to concentrate on 'BR'... BRing and BRought, and that should help.
It was like teaching a 5 year old phonics!!!

Brought instead of bought is some strange localised thing from one of the southern backwaters and is one of my pet hates

Herein lies the problem, I actually complained once about the p!ss poor spelling on the school reports our two used to bring home
I was told that the school no longer put the emphasis on correcting spelling & grammar
I said that was stupid, because the people who will be reading the CVs these kids will be writing one day certainly will
Fortunately we've only got two of them, so we were able to beat it into them individually

That says it all, doesn't it. You look at the morons who were rampaging on our streets earlier in the week, and you have to wonder how many of them would have been there, had they spent their lives at schools that took a more stubborn approach to forcing some sense into their now sadly vacant little heads.

It effing annoys me too!
Some people need to learn how to spell. They're/There/Their, Where/We're/Were, Lose/Loose or Brought/Bought they all irritate me. At first I thought it was foreign speakers or children then I realized they're just thick.
I tend to ask them where they brought it from and they don't get it.
