Did it drive any different? More lag or delay between gears?

How many miles have you done since?

Well, gave it a try last night.

Pulled the small vacuum hose off the dump valve, plugged the rubber hose with a bolt and took the car for a careful drive. Car felt no different to drive, ho hesitation or problems. However, could not hear anything like a wastegate or dump valve noise from the turbo. Sounded quiet like I had refitted the recirculating standard dump valve again.

Basically I think if you are running the standard intake system with a panel filter upgrade it is too well sound insulated and a pointless mod! Haha.

Back to the HKS for me then!

Correct, you really need a FMIC and IK to get the sound.

The noise with the OEM set up will still be there although difficult to hear from inside the car. FMIC to hear the noise isnt required, a CAI yes, but then you would need to be remapped to compensate for the change.

If Im perfectly honest, I think removing the Snorkus out of the wing using the standard airbox would probably do the trick, and I wouldnt imagine that a remap would be required for such a small change.

I have tried and tested many aftermarket VTA's in my time, and I think they are all horrid.

You're saying you made more bhp with a DV connected?

Hmmm, I tried this yesterday after picking my car up and like has been said..... with the standard airbox and panel filter you won't hear anything different :-(

The thing that confuses me however, mine didnt enjoy having no dv. There was a little hessitation and jerkiness at low rpm, it was put back to standard re-circ asap.

On another note though, my car now makes 350hp and 385ftlb tourqe :-D

Got the vf43, Sti top mount, Sti pinks, decat up/down pipes, full afterburner vortex decat and green panel filter and its a whole new car, absolute missile :-)

Thanks to scoobyspares for a top job!!!!!

Nice result! Great car to drive at that level arn't they? Brilliant fun!

You can buy a snorkus delete pipe. Or modify your own to remove the large bit at the bottom. Don’t want to remove it completely as car will then not use the front air duct and take air from inner wheel arch.

There are threads on how to mod them if you want to do it. No power gain, only bit more noise. Rather pointless. Google it, plenty of how too’s!

Would say though that they do catch a lot of flies & crap. So I wouldn’t want to run without one really.

As said, if you DV delete, and remove the Snorkus then you should hear the turbo chatter, be careful though, as if your turbo is weak or isnt a well made one it wont last very long!

Ah right, thought you ment it made more with the DV. could have been a minor issue under boost with the dump valve holding perhaps, although one would think a more noticable different would appear. Thanks for clearing up anyways

you cannot do that it will leak on boost.
You need to run a pipe from d/v to a boost only side of the butterfly throttle so that the piston or diaphram in the d/v sees possetive boost when accelerating. And will not see vacuum when decelerating, this will ensure the d/v remains closed AT ALL TIMES, failure to do it in this fashion will result in boost leak and your car will run rich/retarded on boost.
The point at which it leaks will depend on the strength of your d/v spring and the volume of atmospheric pressure air you have trapped in the piston/diaphram side of the valve by "plugging it".
I hope this helps with the chatter
