Basically I think if you are running the standard intake system with a panel filter upgrade it is too well sound insulated and a pointless mod! Haha.

Back to the HKS for me then!
You need to also run a new pipe from d/v to boost only side of the butterfly throttle for reasons mentioned above.

I can see your point with this and agree. Most dump valves may leek boost if done like this.

I am running a HKS SSQV and thought that it was the only dump valve designed to hold itself shut under boost if you know what I mean? But still down to the spring when it comes to negative pressure I guess so could still be a problem.

Guess i'll have to make a proper blanking plate and plumb things in properly for a test.

p.s. Thanks everyone for the sound clips. Some lovely sounding cars out there!

FWIW my HKS SSQV is still on, with the boost pipe still going to it as if it was not blacked off.

All I have done is fit a thing aluminium plate behind it.

You can buy a snorkus delete pipe. Or modify your own to remove the large bit at the bottom. Don’t want to remove it completely as car will then not use the front air duct and take air from inner wheel arch.

There are threads on how to mod them if you want to do it. No power gain, only bit more noise. Rather pointless. Google it, plenty of how too’s!

Would say though that they do catch a lot of flies & crap. So I wouldn’t want to run without one really.

yeah its more than I could have dreamed of. Type-r's that used to try and bug me are embarrased and a v8 vantage tried to show off yesterday and got schooled by a 5 grand scooby...... priceless :-D

Think i'll leave the snorkus and just play with the chatter when I go front mount and Cai mwahaha

Thanks Andy

And will not see vacuum when decelerating, this will ensure the d/v remains closed AT ALL TIMES, failure to do it in this fashion will result in boost leak and your car will run rich/retarded on boost.
The point at which it leaks will depend on the strength of your d/v spring and the volume of atmospheric pressure air you have trapped in the piston/diaphram side of the valve by "plugging it".
I hope this helps with the chatter
