Well I'm not 100% sure but that is what the fella in my local Halfrauds told me, plus my mates draper expert breaker bar is identical to my halfords one right down to every marking on it other than the name.

People wax about Snap On but I am not convinced a Snap On spanner is significantly better than a Halfords one! It's just a spanner FFS!
If you gave them to a blind mechanic I bet he would never know the difference.
Things like torque wrenches I agree you get what you pay for, but for stuff like spanners so long as it is within tolerance and made of steel of adequate quality I don't see the point of high end 'brand' names.
It's getting a bit like fashion labels. A £3 Tesco T-shirt does the same job as a £30 Superdry one.

However Halfords Professional tools are made by Draper Jeff. I know this for a fact (despite various myths and internet rumour about their being Snap-on or Teng) as Halfords gave me a Draper part number for a replacement part, for one of their Professional range tools.

The reason Mechanics buy Snap on tools is that once you have bought them once, you are sorted for the rest of your career...
If you break something its replaced within a week or so.
Yes the van coming round weekly is very convenient, its all part of a great service that most Snap on franchises provide..
I do understand why people wouldnt buy them though, and if it wasnt my living i would look for a cheaper alternative as well.

Mine , snap on subaru tool box is now mainly full of snap on , the halfolds stuff it at at home ,
The snap on flank drive plus spanner if mint i have to say , ive got a set for sale also just missing the 10 and 17 mm , If there is any worries they just change it , Brake pipe spanners also , you carnt beat a good one , the cheap ones can flare open slightly causing crap grip .

My work toolbox is full with snap-on, mac-tools, and halfords proffessional. Tbh snap-on cover the more specialised side of things while mac and halfords cover the lot and are made by stanley tools in the same foundry, id recommend using halfords proffessional because the quality is excellent and if you break it they replace it without quibble .
The only stuff I've got it in snap on is stuff I've broken in other makes.. Ie male torx sockets. Snap on do a sort of gold finish on some of their bits which are bloody expensive but worth it IF you use them like I do.. I use a 3/8" T50 male torx on a 1/2" snap on battery impact gun (don't tell the snap on man) with a 1/2"-3/8" reducer These snapon gold ones seem so strong. I've broken specific impact bits from other makers but not these.
Spanners, when was the last time anyone broke a spanner? Obviously one thing to consider is fit but as for strength you won't go far wrong with halfords pro or britool or similar.
I've got plenty of bling tools but it's amazing how there's still the odd old draper item in my tool box which works best in certain scenarios.
I bought halfords pro 26-36mm spanners as buying these in snap on would have bankrupted me!

I have broken a few spanners in my time, usually the ring part snaps off or cracks.
Never broke a Snap on spanner though. The flank drive system works well on the Snap on spanners, but basically i would be happy with any spanners that didnt slip off when under maximum load. That usually ends up with you smasking your hands into the sharp edges of a gearbox or into various suspension components..

Well I finally got sorted out with some spanners tonight. Bough myself the Halfords Advanced 150piece socket set that comes with an array of spanners and other goodies.
Well chuffed but I don't get to play with it until Xmas.

I looked for a long time to find a good comprehensive socket/spanner set that was good quality and reasonable price and i'm now the proud owner of a 123 piece JEtech, which has had some stick and i'm yet to find a job i can not do with it.
Oh and i was in the motortrade, facom, snap on are the daddy's, as said before it's because once bought it's for life, i have tools from both that were in daily use for 25+ years without failure.
