Don't ***** around with 350+.
430bhp on a Blob STi is considered 'safe' on the OEM TMIC/internals for regular driving/fast road blats (but not trackdays or any other arduous, sustained revs).
You'd need a SC46 Billet turbo, Walbro 255 fuel pump, 650cc or 740cc inj., IK with large cone (probably), and a remap from JGM. Sorted.
Just do it! (As you'll only do it in the end... ).

Remap & Better panel filter and new fuel pump(For safety reasons) will see 330-340 on a PPP STI
for 400 you will need Fuel pressure regulator, Turbo, and the above, Though the Prodrive exhaust will need changing as they become restrictive at around the 350 mark, New tubaler headers wouldnt go a miss too and you wont bee too far away, though you might find you will need a new clutch, Gaz.

STI mate, internals and gearbox are the big improvements over the wrx, trust me had both. WRX is a well sorted car don't get me wrong but like others have said, need to spend some serious wonga to get it up to spec.

Remember that the STI has a 6 speed box too and that a modified WRX might cost a similar amount to insure as a standard STI!
I'd look for one with fewer miles, they are out there.
I had an 04 WRX and went to a 07 Hawk STI, the STI feels a lot 'tighter' and sportier. My wife liked the comphy and subtle side of the WRX and thinks the STI's too 'lary', bouncy and harsh a ride, I think she's wrong It's the car I should have got in the first place
Test drive both, then get the STI

I forgot to mention to add: single decat downpipe to replace the 2-part OEM one (or do you already get one with the PPP?), decent system and, as mentioned above, a decent FPR such as Sard, FX or Fuelab (get a Fuelab Mini FTW!).

Sti is the better car for most but the wrx is a good car depends on what you want from the car and what you expect. Also what you can get for your budget a good well looked after wrx is better than a dog of an sti. I owned a uk wrx and went to a widetrack blob jdm sti and after I take into account money spent on mods on wrx I realised I should have stumped up for an sti in the first place, but at the time I couldn't afford it so went for the best I could afford which happened to be a my03 wrx. Never regretted it though. So my advice is go look at and test drive a few before deciding what suits you. My05 is best though as interior is smarter and on the sti many improvements including dccd are added.

M3 is now sold.
What are the differences between an sti and a jdm sti?
Found this but wary about the price...

The jdms dont have unequal length headers ,so no you dont get the burble of the uk cars.
The car is you link looks like a good deal and its from a dealer , I don't believe they have a bad reputation on here maybe be worth a look at.

The one in your first link is the better of the two car its the updated model. Look at the interior, you get the flared rear arches , wider track ,dccd . The updated car in the first link is better than the car in your second link and the one to definately buy of those two. The first on is a ver8 the second one is ver9. You only need sports cat and remap and you'll get over 300bhp on the first car If its not already been mapped. The both have the standard STI alloys which is another giveaway for the version of Blobeye for their respective years just the first one they have been powder coated so they are no longer gold.

Also, if that WR Bue one IS a Jap import, then it will also have twin scroll setup, and therefore equal length headers i.e. much reduced burble (barely there). So if that's an issue for you............?
But forget the sound (still sounds great - I have equals on my STi 5 and it sounds like a quasi touring car ).... You'll LOVE the response of the T.S. turbo + STi AVCS heads/cams combo.

That cambelt was done 4 years ago check the month it was done as it could be due as soon as January . Apart from the usual stuff listen at for the rear knocking shocks also clutch operation make sure is doesn't slip. Go through the gears on boost and listen for crunches. Wheel bearings and running gear listen for noises.

It's not a jap import it's from Cyprus but was originally registered from new in this country. I'm sure that's what he said. Front bumper needs a respray or atleast the fog covers do and a couple of small dents but that's about it he said.
Be there in about half hour, hopefully it is ok. Hpi all clear too.
