Sound a good garage but prob not realy a general parts supplier - never did get that splitter. Was looking at Revolution & HT Autos but recall you suggested other options.
May have to postpone anyway though as my upstairs neighbour just flooded our kitchen!

So what was actually done to the shocks ???
People seem to go for coilovers/ KYB shocks on new age instead of getting new STI rear ones because of price... If its much better hence the price why we don't hear it so much people doing it as this problem is quite common???

Holy thread revival batman.
I too would be interesed in what works are actually done. As being gas pressurised shocks the oiling, piston, gas and valveing obviously need teh equipment to take it apart, and represurise it on assembly.
But if its just regreasing the dust cover portion changing bushes/bumstops then that would figure why its so cheap. I technically I wouldn't call that an overhaul...more of a clean and regrease (i.e interim service if you will)....you wouldn't call an engine overhualed if you just changed the oil and cleaned out the sump, now would you ?

Obviously the dust cover sticking in the body is a main issue on these, but there are many other parts to a shock.

I presume it is just a matter of taking the shock out of the dust cover and greasing it up so it stops sticking.... I have done this previously myself on my car and when you split down the shock you can see the actual shock absorber part is in perfect nick so seems a bit of a waste buyin new shocks....
