Is there anything else I can do? as a full exhaust from the turbo back seems a bit extreme, not to mention expensive.

Thanks,

I'm amazed that you went anywhere near the MOT station knowing there was no cat in the system, or did you think there might just have been a chance?
The rule here is, never dispose of the original catted system, you might just need it once a year!

i think your car has to pass EVERY section of the test, agreed you could probably test another cars gasses but how many people really know someone who would do this???
i cant imagine turning up to a mot tester you dont know and asking him to do this as its illegal,
maybe if you know the tester but otherwise i'd imagine its a near impossible task.

i would love to get my car de catted but this is the only concern i have with it.
The tester can manually input certain things like emissions, brake test results etc. It helps if you know the tester though

With my local car club we have an MOT tester and he is as creative with the emissions as an MP is with his expenses

I don't have the original catted system. The previous owner told me there wouldn't be any MOT problems with the system that's on the car, and I believed him. I'll never buy another used car though, thanks to that greedy, dishonest little p****! as that wasn't the only lie he told me.

In the sellers defence you should alwaysvget a second opinion & surly being a car enthusiast you would know all cars after 199 (something) you would need a cat.

In my own defence, I'm a female who knows nothing about car engines Just because I liked the look and feel of the car didn't give the seller the right to rip me off.
