It'd need to be in Barrow really. I work down in Portmouth so unless it's on a Friday or Saturday I'll be taking the 3 points. I wouldn't mind taking the course as it might slow me down a bit, just think a couple of hours is plenty to get their point across.

Would it still be the same fine and points if I was going say 54 in a 30 zone ?
Hi again mate, don't quote me on this but im sure that if you want to be offered the course you dont send/pay your fine cause you get offered the course instead. If you send the ticket off ul get the points. Have a look into it but im 99% sure thats right

Doesn't work like that here. You send it back, they either offer you the course, or 3 points and £60.

You don't send it back, they offer court.

DO NOT go to court, they railroad you 99% of the time. I tried it, could prove that the copper lied on his statement, magistrates ignored it, said it wasn't important, and the fact that MY lying witness never turned up, but I had to pay for THEIR three wasn't taken into account either.

Ended up with £100, FOUR points and £150 costs. PLUS: they told their witnesses to sit and watch me get my punishment, so they had made their minds up before the case was heard.

They would have loaded the costs as my wife has a good job, but I told them a) that was unfair since she didn't commit the offense, and b) if they did, I would sue them when my marriage broke down they agreed with that, at least.

It had 30 signs through the stretch, copper was a bit sneaky where he hid, not that that is an excuse for speeding!

I thought if you paid the fine you are deemed to have pleaded guilty and it works the same your nicked!

Got flashed doing 36 in a 30 - see here:-

GATSO'd: 36mph in a 30mph zone...!!!

1) Can I apply for the training course, instead of taking the points? If so how do I go about it?

2) Also, failing the above, then if I ask for photographic evidence, can I do so so that they get my letter within the 28-days (deliberately sent to be near to the end of that period ), but without filling out the NIP form? What I mean is, by receiving the letter request for evidence, do they then temporarily ignore the NIP until the photo evidence side of things is 'dealt with' i.e. would the NIP's 'return by' date be 'reset' IYSWIM?

I want the administration to 'work' for their effing conviction (I detest the self-incriminating and 'flippant' nature of NIPs).

If you go on to their website and enter the ref number on the letter you've received it will show you the photo etc.
36 is very harsh.
I was going 39 in a 30 but thought it was a 40 limit.

43 in a 40 is taking the p1ss. I would be challenging that one as it's less than 10% over the limit. Is there any device that picks up all speed cameras like a road Angel or something ?

No more than 3 points.

Got caught for 44 in a 30. Same scenario. Speed limit had changed.

i hate speeding tickets! i just got done on a gatso recently, when they send you the letters it says your speed like this "65MPH", i thought it was rather funny because when i got my letter through it was 106mph but obv the computer couldnt fit it in cas it was in the hundreds it said EXCESS SPEED "106MP" LOL!!, perhaps i got a case i can go to court with? maybe i can get away with saying the letter didnt say i was doing 106 MPH it said MP, imean common mate wtf is "MP?", Perhaps not! lol ;-)

I received my letter giving me option of the points or the course. The good thing is as long as I book the course (and pay for it) with 28 days I can pick a date to suit. I've booked mine in my home town on 22nd December so it won't cost me a day off work. Most of the couses nationally are booked up a month in advance - how much money are they making out of this little scheme ?

4 hours seems a bit long though, 30 minutes would be better.

Making loads of money. Done my course last Wednesday, 21 people on it at £84. Nice little earner for them for employing 2 people to take the 4 hour course.
Course was ok I spose, not that he liked it much when I pulled up in the blob eye and my exhaust set of his car alarm. Pmsl so hard.

They actually don't make much money they genuinely believe re-education is the right way forward.

Police earn around £30 per course. That money goes into road safety partnerships and traffic enforcement.

So where does all the other money go? On my course there was over £1700 there.

They'll have to teach me how to read road signs as I thought the road I was on was a 40 limit (it used to be), so at 39mph I thought I was driving to the law.

As a local councillor one of the many things I'm involved is in a Speedwatch Campaign I. Our town
We have volunteers with a gun and average people caught in the 30 zone is at a staggering 38-39 mph
They get a nasty letter from the police
Last year we sent 520 letters out over a month and only 2 got repeat letters
The police were shocked at the figures and have a van every fortnight over 4 different locations and rake the pounds in now
Interesting when we look at the Figures closely
Most are retired women or women 50-60 years old ,with very few White van men or boy racers and we got the message over to the school run mothers when we caught 30 in a day and some twice going to school and coming back
Apart from the dog dirt on the pavement complaints ,speeding is the next most complained about item on our agenda in the small towns and villages

It goes to the ADI's and Road safety groups that run the courses and to pay for administration and venues.

I sent the letter off last week declaring that i was speeding in the missus car. How long does it normally take for them to reply?
