There is deliberate trolling by a poster who had posts removed for the same thing a week or so ago yet now nothing happens. That sort of thing pisses people off.

But for the main I think the type of poster now visiting NSR is the cause of its demise. The demographic has changed over the years for sure and that was bound to happen, but 10 or even 5 years ago nearly everyone on here had a Scoob and had that common bond... NSR was an adjunct to the Scooby General section of the forum.

Now we have people here who have never owned a Scoob and who make NSR their first port of call. These days it seems to be a lot more about oneupmanship, point scoring and getting the better of one's 'opponent' rather than debate. People with something to offer the forum often get shouted down and end up not posting on subjects that they know a lot about due to other posters feeling the need to be 'big and clever'.

It just isn't as nice a place to be as it was .... much like the UK really I guess
so leave then, you wont be missed by forum or country!

I would pi55 myself laughing personally!
Just because neither you nor the forums in question have been sued doesn't mean you couldn't be.

If there is no issue why do the mods here and elsewhere remove 'potentially libelous' posts?

You are delued if you think a website owner cannot be sued for the material it publishes even if that material is posted by a user of the site and not the site itself.

Well worth a read, how would Scoobynet Mods deal with that thread? Vaped in seconds I would think to the detriment of the forum. A lot like my educational Computing threads.
That's outstanding; shame the feckin' pics are out of bandwidth. It's becoming quite famous:

The pictures are the best bit. A thread like that might bring new members to Scoobynet, but with the current zapping and infracting policy it's not possible, he'd be banned in seconds. Bloody shame.

He's my new hero. Did you notice that the riposte from the unwashed is uncannily similar to those used on here? I blame the TV.

How do you feel about criticism of Islam now being effectively outlawed on here, Shaid? It's been singled-out by the management for special consideration. Thanks for the PM, by the way, but I'd rather have the debate publicly when you're ready - just link me to a site.

A bit more of the old fashioned Christianity in this country would do us all a lot of good.

Jesus Christ didn't advocate or practice child-rape.

And I'm absolutely on the side of Hitchens and Fry, but the issue of child-abuse in the context of Christianity is overwhelmingly the preserve of the Catholic Church which, as an institution, was the subject of the motion in the Intelligence Squared debate. Anglicanism, save a few exceptions, does not suffer the same problem. The prevelance of the crime is institutional not theological or philosophical.

As an aside, if you enjoyed that debate, you may enjoy this coversation from the Hay Festival a few years back.

Actually, I'd modify that to say revulsion towards female genitalia within the Abrahamic traditions has manifested as celebacy within the Catholic hierachy and there's a strong argument indicating that this contributes significantly to the perversion. Anglicanism does not enforce celebacy and the stats for acts of child-rape appear to reflect that significant difference between the sects.

And there's the problem. Some people would like to chat or debate on here without having insults thrown at them.

True, the paedo priests thought that up all by themselves, sadly successive popes seem to have turned a blind eye or just brushed it under the carpet

I think it would be better to remove the bigots rather than trying to ban something outright. The issue with any religious topic is that there will always be the offensive bigots who think it is their darwin given right to be as offensive as possible and then someone like me comes along and says 'up yours too' then the thread goes downhill big time.

I'm actually staying reserved on these forums as i don't want to get a ban.

I'll PM you with a site later. I don't want to search Muslim stuff at work.

Unfortunately it does. I don't think there is anything particularily wrong with Mr Taylor. I certainly don't see him as a bigot or anything however there is something beneath the surface which he needs to get out of his system. Dialogue is the best way for this.
