Chucking it all in and moving abroad?

So who's done it then?
Beginning to hate my job and very little job prospects for me round here.
I'm in my first year of doing my Degree in IT part time through open uni.
Really i need to do something big to give me a kick up the ****.
I love the idea of moving to america or the like.
Realisitcally i could go to london and work for a few years to get the money i need. i'm only 22 so plenty of time. just want peoples experiences of doing it all really and what they'd recommend.

When you have a lot more experience of the place you begin to realise the plastic society they have and the real value of living in this country.

I disagree Les. I still find the USA brilliant. Suppose there is places all over the world that people may or may not like.

I didn't mind the US too much. Funnily enough we were in St Louis too (whereabouts are you? We were in Columbia, about 45 mins south of downtown STL).

The grass is greener where you water it...
...and wherever you go, there you are!!
Anyway, enough cod epithets, the USA has a real unemployment rate of over 15% is highly protectionist and it is very expensive to get a green card - either you have to pay or your sponsor does. And you will need to demonstrate a unique skill and then likely to be tied to your sponsor for 2-4 years.
The whole process might take 6-8 years.
And you may not like it. The US is the land of opportunity. It is also the land of deep racism, fundamentalist political and religious beliefs the like of which you will never fathom, awful food in most places and to my mind one of the least authentic countries on the planet.
