I have to admit that down here in Kent, many Imprezas are now driven by men of around 21 years old that still live at home. Because of this, they are able to actually afford the running costs as they have very low out goings. A basic wage job netting around £1000 month is easily enough to run one of these cars if you are still living with mummy and daddy. Once you have a mortgage (especially in the south) your car options narrow drastically.

I've still got an Impreza and although I consider myself a professional and in no way a chav, my car probably is. Carbon bonnet, loud exhaust and BOV. I've never been one to be bothered much by what other people think though.

I love nothing more than sitting in my car outside McDonalds, wearing my Burberry baseball cap, tracksuit whilst adorned in oversized gold jewellery and calling everyone 'bruv'.

I think its somewhat unfair and a massive gneralisation to assume anyone joining ScoobyNet after 1965 is a chav (therefore not one of the 'ol lags) and unable to appreciate the marque without installing 'chav trumpets,' lexus lights and plastering their cars in stickers.

Inevitably, there will be those that choose to vandalise their cars in this way but that just provides us with ammunition to take the ****

Not really. Nsr was never about the car this site supports. It used to be mental and full of characters. You could see a thread start, answer it and have your answer beaten by 3 others, such was this site's popularity.

There's been a brain drain from nsr. It's no longer interesting. It used to be my home page; it's not even in my favourite folder now. I used to love the tear ups that used to go on here, they could be legendary. Now it seems to be an anti Islam site, for the educationally challenged.

People who have busy lives or more interests move on.

I had a Subaru once ... 13 years ago! Loved the car and then sold it for a Supra, Focus St and now a Nissan Juke (yes, I know, sorry).

The Supra forums were not really that active, Focus ST full of 20 year olds and Nissan Juke, well, don't even get me started about those people.

Here was (and to a certain extent is) a reasonable mix of people. Certainly as mentioned elsewhere they were traditionally relatively articulate, typically in IT and reasonably well off financially.

I seldom bother to. There's little quality left here, which is a shame when compared with sn of say 02 to 05.

Things change and people move on. I bet if the figures were to hand they show this site's traffic at less than 5% if its peak.

I originally posted this thread as I am similar. Each time I visit I hope it will be like it was but it isn't.

It isn't anything to do with who is here now but who is not here.

This is not a rampage againt new users and anyone new need not be offended, it was just a better place a few years ago and I am sad things have changed.

As I said twice already, life moves on, not always for the better.

As far as I am concerned, the Scooby is still a very impressive machine and was quite something to drive, especially with a bit of tweaking on the engine and the suspension. I loved mine and still would be proud to own it.

What the hell is the use of what is know as "fashionable" these days anyway. It is the ongoing experience which counts and the Scooby has plenty of that. I am very sorry that I have not still got mine.

I don't care what is said about what is the "right" bit of kit to own, I am far more interested in the true value of something as far it goes in fullfilling all the right kind of pleasure in owning and in this case driving it.

Fashion statements such as being the right thing to own because it is the latest article is a load of old cobblers as far as I am concerned.

I also don't care if I am a geek as far as Scoobies are concerned either.

Agree with Chop and FP. I've been on this forum since about 2001 I think (I changed username in 2009).

I haven't owned a Scoob since 2003 but stayed on the site because it was so much fun. Not only fun but it was very helpful ie you could ask for informal professional advice on just about anything and get a few pointers. Even though many were in IT we had people from just about every work related background on here.

This still exists to some extent now, but nowhere near as much. I posted a question a few days back in DIY and am still awaiting a reply. Sounds a bit selfish but in the good old days I would have had a reply within a few hours at most.

My wife used to be amazed that if we needed advice on something I could type it into Scoobynet and sometimes within minutes we'd have an answer of some kind from somebody with a background in that subject.

Don't get me wrong this does still exist and I thank all those people who help me.

I'm coming on here less and less and didn't post anything for about 2-3 months recently because I found myself getting into stupid arguments taking up too much time.

Though it's not all about the quality of the new guys they do have a part to play in the demise. There does seem to have been an influx of people who seem to write complete gibberish. They don't use full stops or capital letters and write a sort of phone text. I just can't be bothered to even and try and read a page of writing that is not punctuated in anyway.

Don't get me wrong I'm not one of the language police, you'll find plenty of spelling and grammatical mistakes in my posts. I will however take some effort to make my posts comprehensible without giving readers a migraine.

So the reason I'm on here less and less

1) Vicious circle of the less traffic there is the less reason for me to come on here.

2) Increasing number of illiterate retards.

3) Increasing number of quite bloody minded racists.

2) and 3) are very often the same people.
