Why would they need to go anywhere? They just need to be respectful of the traditions of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

If we are going to have a non-religious reference for the calendar they we might as well start at the beginning (at least for the Earth). So this make it the year 4,540,002,011

Could not agree with you more Tony.

What a load of plonkers these people are. I put it down to an incompetent attempt at social engineering.

Pity they can't be forced to earn our TV licence fees in that we could have a choice whether to watch BBC or not since there are so many other choices now and not be forced to pay the licence.

Well, in Post #16 you seem to imply that all non Christians should leave the country, so I asked you where should all (obviously non Christian) atheists go? You then asked me why they need to go anywhere?

When you refer to the traditions of the UK etc, I take it you mean the 'religious' traditions? Can you tell me what religious law or tradition has been 'broken' or disrespected? You do sound thoroughly confused!

No, I didn't imply that, you have made an assumption.

Here is what I wrote to refresh your memory.
"This is a Christian country, deal with it or **** off."

Where in this sentence does it say non-christians should leave this country?

Ok, I clearly misunderstood you.

So what does it mean?

Funnily enough it means exactly what it says. This is a Christian country, we live under rules that are underpinned by christian values and teachings, we celebrate Christmas, yadda, yadda, ya . If someone cannot live in our society and accept the way things are done or get offended by childrens Christmas nativity plays then its quite possible this isn't the country for them.

I'm probably as Christian as Tom Cruise but I liked how this country used to before all this multicultural nonsense started.

So what you mean is that it was just a general harangue? Ok.

Understood and I agree.

Well, as I teeter between agnosticsm and atheism, I think it is a difficult situation between allowing freedoms but also freedom of expression.

I don't like anyones beliefs shoved down my throat, probably mainly because I have doubts as to my own beliefs, but I have no problem with religious people, as long as they don't preach to me and that they obey the law too.

I prefer AD and BC as that is what I am used to. They don't have a religious meaning for me, but they might have for others.

As NI is such a religious and polarised place I take it there are lots of people who take this seriously?

You say you are not Christian, but you clearly have some respect for the beliefs no?

So, how many times a year do you go to church then?

The fact is this is a Christian country first and formost. There is no denying it. Now nobody is saying everyone should be a Christian but if people want to live in the UK you have to accept that it is run under Christian teachings.

It's the same for any country in the world. You accept that other countries are based on other religions.

Whether you are atheist or not, that is your own affair and you would do well do well to learn a bit of consideration for those who think differently and for that matter do not attack you for your beliefs.

Nothern Ireland is a tricky one, people say we have a religious problem, I think it is a political problem. There hasn't been a religious problem in many years in my opinion.....lets face it apart from a few tweaks Protestantism and Catholicism are the same thing. People use religion nowaday in NI to add credbility to their political views. There are quite a few that take it seriously(just check out what happened to Rhianna over here) but there are even more that use it as an political/social crutch.

I am best described as a non-practising Protestant as I was brought up as a Protestant but I don't bother with church as I have my doubts but it doesn't mean that I don't respect and *try* to live by the values that have been taught to me via christianity be it from church or school when I was younger.

I don't think that the uk is particularly Christian at all.

Out of all my friends, only one person goes to church and one who actually prays on a regular basis. That is possibly only down to smoking too much pot.
