This is no word of a lie - a lass i used to work with asked me to have a look at light on the dash of her first car. I asked innocently if she has noticed it at all when she is driving, she said she's only noticed it when she is stationary - it was only the hand brake light

When I was just starting off dating my wife, she had a spare set of wheels for her car and wanted to sell them. I asked her to get them out of the shed and take some pics.
She said, "Will my wheels be ok outside?"
Me: I'm not sure, I don't know what crime is like near you
Her: No, I mean if it rains
Me: Where do wheels normally live?
Her: On the car
Me: and where does your car live?
Her: embarrased 'oh yeah'

I don't think men should drive the BMW Mini anyway.
Seriously I've worked with people who can't even fill up the washer reservoir....wouldn't know how to flip the bonnet. The car is just this mystery like a TV.

Around June/July I was tasked with finding a first car for a female family friend. She didn't have too much money to spend & her choice was severely limited because she needed a automatic.
After driving all over the north east with her, I eventually found something that was suitable. A nice little corsa that was well under her budget, it was an ex mobility car. Had low mileage full history etc & the dealer gave her a decent warranty.
Day before she was due to pick it up she rang me asking how much it would cost to get the colour changed because she wasn't keen on it. Asked if she would loose her deposit if she pulled out. Managed to talk her out of it and she got it.
After a couple of days she sent it back to the dealer for a fault with the indicators. "The clicking sound wasn't very loud"
Think she had it about a fortnight before she rang me again, "I have nudged the car, will you come and have a look and see if you can do anything to repair it. Its only a scratch"
When I drove over there and had a look, there was a hole in the bumper, fog light was missing and not much paint left.
After she got that fixed again she rang me to say she was going to wash it "would washing up liquid in water be ok". "No you need some shampoo". Phone went again about an hour later saying she was in Boots what shampoo should she get. "No you need car shampoo".
About a fortnight ago she went to visit her sister, parking in the usual spot she uses. The police turned up at her house asking her husband where the owner of the car was. It was parked in front of some ones back yard who has been wanting to get his car out for the last 2 hours. Her husband tried ringing her mobile but couldn't get in contact, turns out she had got the bus into town with her sister to do some shopping. She turned up a couple of hours later to find the police still waiting. Apart from a bit of a bollocking she got let off.
A few days ago she was pulled by the police, driving at night with no lights on. Tomorrow I have to go and show her how to work them. And show her how to operate the screen wash and windscreen wipers.
I have also had to drive over there and accompany her to put fuel in twice. Good job its only a 1.0 and doesn't use much or I would be there every week.
It wouldn't bother me, but I have been there countless times and asked how things were going with the car, or if she needed me to help her with anything. She will say no every things great.

My sister in law cant drive anywhere that might involve a right hand turn, she also cant plan a route without going home first, nobody will be a passenger in her car ,and the only way she passed her test might of included a long stay in a layby.

I must be lucky as Mrs SiPie drives over 30k a year on business and is as switched on car wise as they come (apart from driving a Volvo C30!).
She booked her car in last month after she correctly identified a worn wheel bearing....
I asked her what made her think it was wheel bearing and she said that it was only on long right hand bends and would I mind jacking it up and checking for play
Told her that if she was that smart to jack it up her fecking self

Sounds just plain stupid and in her case, can't believe that her thickness relates only to cars.

Back on track, I took my exhaust to get looked at again, so that's sorted, again.
While I was there I asked them to look at my tyre as it's got a slow puncture. Turns out there was a nail stuck in it! So that's sorted now too.
I did get a slap on the writs for not having any locking wheel nuts on the Bathurst's though.

MrsD once drove my Legacy over the remains of a drystone wall that fallen into the road, egging the tyre, cracking the rim, and bending the front strut & bottom arm, she drove it like this for nearly a fortnight ( she was using it as she'd lent her car to her sister & I was using my XR4x4). I only discovered it because I needed to move the car of the drive, I set off and the car veered right, straight into the gatepost
A new bottom arm, a full set of MY00 Impreza struts (unused second hand) four nearly new wheels & tyres later it was as good as ever
That was over five years ago, to this day she insists that I was wrong to make her pay to have it all put right
Especially the wheels, which were 16" Rays 6 spokes, impossible to find a new one, so I bought a set of MY00 Impreza wheels, with tyres, for less than the two new front tyres it needed would have cost her :
In the meantime, her sister has crashed the car she borrowed (new bonnet, bumper, wing & headlight unit), has offered to pay for the damage when she returned it, only for the wife to say 'don't worry about it'!

You forgot the second part of the sentence, which was "my husband will pay for it"

Reading this thread makes me truly grateful that I am not married to any of you and just how wonderful my husband is, so thanks Let me just grab you a stick so you can carry on scratching drawings on the side of the cave
I stripped my first engine down over 20 years ago (Ford Cortina) and put it all back together again after fitting a new head gasket and it ran fine in case you were wondering

When I had a scooby the wife was brilliant at letting it warm up n down, correct fuel avoiding everything, even filling it up as soon as the fuel light came on.
How we have a £300 car that tbh I don't care much for it seems to be a different story.
I rarely polish it but when I do she offers to do the back to black and I will notice a new hole / wound in the body work.
When I ask how it got there she would reply " I needed to get out of that spot so had to hit the wall to know how close it was !" Being a cheap old car I'm not to bothered and amazed at her honesty..
What happens when we get another scooby :worry:
