Anyone catch the BBC story on it this morning?

Apparently in "Britain" as it was described we use 150 plastic bags each per year.

And yet, in the same article Ireland having introduced pay per bag have reduced each persons yearly use too 22 bags a year - from 320???

WTF? I'm sorry but how come people in Ireland used two times as many bags as those in "Britain" and isn't Ireland part of Britain?

Stupid BBC, stupid reporting.

However, 5p PPG?
The irony

Meanwhile supermarkets will continue to be built twice as high as they need to be costing twice as much to heat and and lit up like a frigging Christmas tree.... very eco friendly I'm sure!

Anyway I have my shopping delivered.... why have a dog and bark yourself?

i do recycle them i use them as bin bags in the kitchen, in fact tesco's dont give me enough free so i have to occasionally buy packs of bin liners, so now i will be buying more of those as well as paying for shopping bags every time i go shopping and find more than i planned for!

P.S a lot of people i know use them as bin bags or some i have seen scooping their dogs poo with tesco bags!!!

Another easy answer is to recycle them each week with all the other recyclable stuff collected by the council

There is nothing which says 'poor' than unraveling aged plastic bags at the check-out. LOL

It's like people getting stained and ancient handkerchiefs out of their pocket.

It's just wrong and a bit nasty.

Now that would be the ultimate recycling.

Use bag in the morning to scoop up dog ****...empty...a quick rinse...take it shopping in the afternoon....maybe put the lettuce in it?

"Ban the bag", as heavily promoted by the Waily Wail - the same paper that puts its weekend supplements in a single use, immediately ripped apart and thrown away, plastic bag

Oh, and as for Irish(not-part-of-the-yew-nite-ed-king-dom)land, i believe that when they started charging for bags, so people stopped using the "free" ones, the number of purchased bin liners and refuse sacks rocketed!!!!

Same amount of "nasty carbons" and "turtle killers", but an increase in the number of smug politicians and tree huggers that thought they were saving the world

It's not just plastic bags. McDonalds start to charge for their paper bags from today too, unless you take your own. Good job, as I'm tired of dirty ******* dropping their rubbish on the roads!!

Oh and dont forget the 20% Vat on the bag as well as the goods whilst nobody is getting a wage rise and then they why is consumer spending dropping Lol well maybe because we cant afford to buy the bags
