Secondhand 996/997 - the temptation to spend £1k more

You'd be bored ****less even with the PDK S, Ding.
As you say, there's just no sense of occasion with these cars.
Bloody fast, yes - but as I found out, much more fun to be had with a lighter, less powerful car.
The wave of torque is nice, but having just driven the D3 from Notts to Wellingborough and back tonight, I had the same amount of torque under my bum that I had in my 996tt.
And I liked it much more in the Alpina...

You're probably right, it's just this boyhood obsession I have with that car (which was as I said shattered by the 996tt tip)

so, back to the original post then, and I think that plan A will be to wait until a decent 997 is £18-20k later on next year. The number of owners upgrading to a 991 and the poor global economy will surely push prices to a low point later next year, then depreciation will hopefully take a very gentle downward slope to £10k at £1500 a year.
Interestingly, I was at the Supercar Sunday at Horsley the other week and if you didn't have a GT3, the next most popular in the car park was the 996 C4S. So maybe that is the 996 of choice (after a GT3, which I don't have the money for).
