well its quicker than a decatted uk classic but no, not quicker than a jdm classic.

My point was the newage is about 200kilos heavier and so needs at least 40-50 more horses to get it up with a uk classic.

and as for the m3, my mates log book says his is over 1800kgs so we call it The Panzer. That makes it about 400kgs heavier than a classic and rear wheel drive. You'd have a better chance in the rain thats for sure.

I sailed past an M3 with just over 300bhp in my Type R a few years back and a couple of weeks back was gaining on a brand new M3 with 330/340bhp.

an M3 does not weight 1800kg? and please dont tell me a 270hp WRX flew past an M3 because i dont buy it, E46 M3 is roughly 1550kg and with nearly 340hp they are not going to have been trying if people are flying past them as they quote

An E46 M3 comes in at 1549KG and had 343bhp and 269 lb-ft torque.

Ditchmyster, there is not a chance your 270bhp blob was all over an E46 M3 being driven properly. And you pulled away from him at 155mph ??? Really ??
Your classic at 320bhp is a different story, that car would beat an M3.

Let's do the math...

A blob STI comes in at circa 1450KG and has roughly 300bhp. This would equate to a power to weight ratio of circa 207bhp per ton.
An E46 comes in at circa 1550KG and has roughly 340bhp. This would equate to roughly 220bhp per ton.
A 270 bhp blob will have roughly 186bhp per ton unless it's been stripped put.
Now an E46 M3 would not blow these two cars out of the water but IT WOULD be quicker.

WRXcook.

An R reg M3 would be a E36. The evolution came in at around 1500KG also and yes had circa 320BHP. Don't think one would leave a standard blob STI or classic JDM STI but still a quick car.

A Spec-C @ 1350KG with 357bhp & 358Lbft = 264.44 P/Ton = M3 in rear view mirror = = = M3

I love math...

New GTR is a big car. They come in at around 1750KG. An early one had circa 470bhp (I think, could be wrong).

Had a shocking day mate. It was soooooo bloody hot there for starters which is never good, sure somebody said it was 28'C. Far too hot for running quarters I know that.
Car for some reason was only making 1.45 bar of boost on the strip when it should be up at over 1.6 bar. Made perfect boost on the way there in the morning so god knows what was up with it.
Then factor in my completely homosexual launches and I ended up with an embarrassing 13.3 sec run.
Car is more than capable of low/mid 12's I'm sure. Gonna give it a few weeks and go back in cooler weather. Hopefully by then I'd have grown some ***** and stopped worrying about breaking something off the line.

The way them things get off the line is incredible, I wouldn`t even think about it, Especially with all the gear changes i`d have to do with a JDM box, lol....

I have owned 3 Nissan Skylines, and my favourite, the R32 GTR ran 400bhp, M3's were never an issue. Although many years ago in my Dax Cobra (400bhp per ton) I was able to educate a M3 evolution. No taking it away from the BMW's they are awesome bang for your buck.
