one less scumbag to worry about

That's because it is. There isn't any complex logic to it, they just have to draw the line somewhere. But the people saying they'd kill a someone for being a 'paedo' in the case of a fifteen year-old girl, when they'd congratulate a bloke for bedding a sixteen year-old... they're just morons. And there are plenty of them about. There was a thread on Passionford about it recently which provided some amusement (people frothing at the mouth with rage).
One of the posters on there made the point - and I share the view - that a person is only a paedophile if they are attracted to prepubescent children. That's clearly a psychological issue that isn't natural. It's dangerous and illegal because they will usually act without the consent of the child (i.e. rape). Whereas someone having consensual sex with a fifteen year-old, although it may be morally irresponsible and frowned upon, cannot be considered paedophilia. The girl in question may even be more mature than others over the age of consent.
We should be careful about this arbitrary line drawn by law. We need to separate the dangerous from simply being on the wrong side of that line. The latter should not result in the ruining of a person's career (and possibly whole life) with them being branded a 'sex offender' in my opinion.

Not sure i could agree less. (Sorry had to edit your post before it made my eyes itch).
Can you explain in simple terms why a girl who is 15 years 364 days old is not ready for sex, but the day after, she is?
And a 21 year old lad ******** a 16 year old, abnormal???
Get a grip.

As an aside, I only found out recently that it's body mass that triggers puberty ... nowt to do with age at all.

Come on, you can get girls of 12 (perhaps younger) that have matured early ... surely you don't advocate having sex with them too? Where & how can you draw the line? It's a much better solution to choose an age then stick to it - 16 seems sensible vs other 16 year olds. As per another poster, a 21 year old ******** a 16 year old seems kinda odd to me even if it is quite legal. If you were the father of the daughter in that situation

By all means, choose an age and stick to it (as an age of responsibility), but let's not pretend to be disgusted when that arbitrary line is crossed, that's all I'm saying. When people see reports in the paper of someone having slept with a fifteen year-old, they automatically think of child abusers and they get angry, when in actual fact that's nothing like the situation.
A father has an emotional tie to his daughter. At first he doesn't want to see anyone touch her, which is understandable, but that has nothing to do with the law regarding who she chooses to sleep with. The law doesn't punish because an individual is upset about something.
The example of the 21 year-old and the 16 year-old... they're both driven to it by the same urges, they're both equally in agreement. Yet it seems "odd"? What's odd about it?

Not sure i want to converse with you, "Ste", sorta grown out of the immature comment thing, but one more time then. Are you saying Japan is uncivilised?

It depends what you mean by 'matured early'. My point is that a person having consensual sex with someone who is no longer a child - i.e. they have gone through puberty - should not be labeled a paedophile.

This is what I'd expect from an unreasonable argument though: attempting to blind reason and end the whole thing by socially stigmatising the people involved in debate.

We're not talking about what's socially acceptable among your pals here, we're talking about the reasoning behind the right and wrong of having sex at these ages. At 25, 4 years on from 21, what's changed that makes you a "wrong un" exactly? Because your mates will think you have a problem "pulling girls your own age"? That seems more like vanity on your part than any logical reason for it being 'wrong'.
sorry you had to "converse" with me telboy, gutted im not enough high brow and independant reading for you.
glesga. sorry to burst your bubble mate im 39 with a happy family and a decent morale code. pontificate all you like about what age is right, wrong. here today in the UK theres a law that gives you guidance.
2, 15 yr old lovers caught havin sex are not treated the same way in the eyes of the law as a 16 yr old boy and a 15 yr old girl are. the boy is expected to know better. same at 17, same at 18,same at 21+

i dont even know why your arguing the toss. its as plain as black and white. 16yrs in the uk,anything else is morally wrong. dont care about japan. weve all had enough education in it from an early age at school.
sorry you had to "converse" with me telboy, gutted im not enough high brow and independant reading for you.
