I suppose another reason I want to do it, is so that I can have all the people with us for the wedding that we want. With my mum being in poor health I do think the worst.
I do get you, trust me i do. And if your wealth is relatively evenly split, yeah why not.

If, however, it isn't, then after 10 years co-habiting, don't complicate matters. Take it from somebody who's been through the mill and back.

Well, I have had all my troubles with men in tbe past. I have found a good one, and it feels right.
Don't get me wrong, nothing would change either way, but I would have the same surname as my children. Which I will look forward to.

I will be Mrs P, instead of Miss E!

Could you please post photos of the would-be bridesmaids. Without that, we cannot offer any sensible advice.

Drive himself in the blade

Is this a lesser known Masonic ritual?

I would probably only have 2, maybe 3. My sis, sis in law and best mate. No pics of them, but two are slim blondes, and one a tall brunette

Marriage don't bring most people together. It can be a right pain and be an expensive wedge between two best friends
Been there, done that and got the kids and divorce to show for it. I'm not saying that it is the same for all but it seems like breaking up/divorces are a common ting these days

That aside, what about a marquee in the garden or in someone elses garden? Go on holiday and get married Gretna Green is a good place, but not as good as it used to be apparently I was thinking about there but she wanted a church in the end

Kept ours fairly low key is some respects, we have quite a large extended family so wanted to do something to involve everyone but didn't want the whole extravagant ceremony sit down meal, dancing etc. and with a house to renovate we had better stuff to spend our cash on.

Got married in the local registry office at midday, just parents, brother, sister-in-law to be and her partner. After that we were off to a local fine dining restaurant for a few glasses of champers and lunch, very nice.

In the evening we'd hired out the local community centre, found a local place to do a buffet, found a good band on the 'net, and I'd sourced all the booze via a ferry trip to Calais (still saved a bit despite the weak £) + some beer from a local brewery. Party went down a storm. Everyone commented on what a great time they had. Didn't bother with a wedding cake or official photography, just set up a Photobucket account where guests could upload photos from their own cameras. Worked well.

Arranged to meet up with whoever wanted to the next day for Sunday lunch at the pub.

Following morning off for a week in a cottage in Pembrokeshire, start of December so the hot tub and wood burner were very welcome

Wasn't expecting too but I think we made a small profit on the event as both sets of parents decided they wanted to make a significant contribution to the event

My actual plans are, Registery office in July next year, and then small do for family and friends with food and live music. HOWEVER what the mrs doesnt know is I have moved this out to August with exception of the Registery office, this wont happen as I have planned for family and friends to go to Dom Rep where we will be getting married on the beach, so thats our wedding and honeymoon surrounded by close friends and family for two weeks in a All inc Hard Rock Cafe all inc, cost me just over £6k for 2 Adult and 2 Kids for a fortnight with the wedding included in the price. We have been together for 10 years too and we are full comitted to one another with our "situation", so getting wed for me seems the logical thing to do. Up until 5 years ago I would have said getting wed is a pointless piece of paper with the way the goverment deem "seperation" @ 50/50 or thereabouts. Rob

Instead of spending £000s on one day we spent it on a two week holiday of a lifetime for us and went to Florida. Oh and spent a few £s getting married whilst we were there. Had a fantastic time and was so easy and relaxing instead of dreading the whole day.
