Got a scammer on my hook. What to do next?

Monkey see, monkey do is a saying that originated in Jamaica in the early 18th century and popped up in American culture in the early 1920s. The saying refers to the learning of a process without an understanding of why it works. Another definition implies the act of mimicry, usually with limited knowledge of the consequences.[1]
The saying probably originates from the folklore of Mali, West Africa, made well-known by Esphyr Slobodkina's retelling, which she calls Caps for Sale (A Tale of a Peddler, Some Monkeys and Their Monkey Business). There are also various other versions of this folk-tale, such as The Hatseller and the Monkeys by Baba Wagué Diakité, set in Mali.
In French, the same saying exists: Singe qui voit, singe qui fait.

Matts top tip of the day...
When asked 'do you want to be contacted by email', always click NO.
Serious buyers will phone. Piston heads give you the choice to be contacted by phone, email or both.
Having said that, this thread really has tickled me over the last couple of days.
Quality.

Anyone heard of the Bob Servant emails? Was on radio 4 in the wee small hours a while back, pretty much the same thing, totally hilarious. He was asking to be paid in lions and hippos that sort of thing.

In all fairness to PH I can't see a way of regulating the scammers emails. Its a public site that anybody can view and if sellers are willing to have the option to be contacted by email then they must be prepared for these arseholes.
Maybe all messages could go through PH first before being passed onto the seller. This way they could delete the obvious scams and only forward genuine questions etc. This would be massively time consuming though.
When you contact PH regarding these ridiculous emails what do they say ? Are they actively doing anything in the way of reporting them to the authorities ??
Only problem is, if somehow these sites do manage to stop these emails then threads like this will be no more. That would be criminal in it's self as this thread is fooking awesome, lol....

"...You are so clueless that if you dressed in a clue skin, doused yourself
in clue musk, and did the clue dance in the middle of a field of horny
clues at the height of clue mating season, you still would not have a
clue.."
*drink sprays out of nose*
That was just pure brilliance! That saying will stay with me 'til the grave that will!
I'll be sad to see the end of this thread, its always good to get one over on the cretins who reside on the interwebs praying on decent people.
Good for you! Your are a Legend!

Part of me thinks the scammers must like it when something like this comes along, must break up the tedium of trying to part the proverbial fool from his money.
Top marks for the insults!

You cant stop the scammers.
The only way around it is to be smart online. Most scammers are just trying their luck, while others are highly skilled at it.
Blocking IP addresses will stop some, but in reality making out your from a different IP address is very easy indeed.
At the end of the day just be careful and think before you leap, if something does not feel right then it most probably isn't.
