AVForums is an awful forum imo. If you've spent any time on it you may have noticed how the forum certainly panders to its sponsors wishes. The only site which I find worse to read is alfaowners.com.

Samsung definitely have been on form this year but I don't think its anything to do with picture quality and everything to do with style and gadgetry. They have definitely found their niche market as being the Apple-esq brand for TV's. Would I own a Samsung? Yes, Would I pay the artificially inflated price for one? No.

I have yet to see an OLED going so I can't confirm or deny anything. I hope it will be much better than the artificial picture that LED-LCD gives and less prone to room lighting/positioning problems that plasma suffers from.

I would have thought all the manufcaturers over-inflate their prices seeing I bought a TX-P42v20 for £750 when a month earlier it was £1100...and that was discounted from its £1300 RRP price! I'm pretty certain the retailer still made a profit on that as they chucked in free delivery.

No such thing as RRP anymore, it has been replaced with TSP. There are lots of reasons why a TV can be sold at less than TSP.

Well i have to admit, i've been there a bit and have noticed some major brown nosing of the retaillers, saying what deals they provide, yet i can find better in two minutes of googling?

Do you get the impression some folk make out they have the gear, when in reality they don't, just some kind of wish list so by playing pretend they feel better?

Just an impression im getting, could be wrong there.

As for the prices they seem fairly even across the board, hell i got my 40" D8000 with 5yr warranty, two glasses and a free galaxy s wifi all in for £1350

Can't really complain for what is a top end tv afterall.

What's tsp btw?

Thats 100% my thinking also, especially when they start quoting the lofty opinions of What HiFi?

Typical Selling Price. Apparently shops arent allowed to quote Recommended Retail Prices anymore.

Generally but have you not noticed that there hasn't been much movement on the Samsung high end LED pricing? If you go online or to your local shops there is very little variation in price and its thanks to Samsung keeping the price static by constantly offering extras to the retailer to give away with their TV's.

I personally see the Samsung D7000/8000 series as a retailers dream at the moment.

About £1500 give or take £50 seems to be the going rate. There is a retailer doing it for this price on Amazon at the moment, apparently only one left but part of me thinks that 1 doesn't actually exist.

Its a great TV but good value? I'd be lying if i said I thought so. Although you really can't get a more swanky looking screen regardless of budget.

A equally specced/sized(50") Panasonic would be around £1300.
