Mine failed to download first time, i then turned my internet security off which is Kaspersky and it worked fine after that. Those that are struggling try turning your firewall and internet security off.

Quick question to do with the new IOS 5 update and itunes.
Ive downloaded IOS 5 onto my 3GS, all went smooth no probs.
The only snag is all my installed apps have dissapeared off my phone after the update, i can see all the apps that i originally downloaded in itunes but i can't see any obvious way to re-install them on my phone. Ive clicked on the icons, double clicked on them, right clicked etc but i don't see any download option.
Any ideas ?

Must be those "dodgy" iPhones you all have.
Downloaded, backed up, restored and updated first time on my iPhone 4.
Now I just gotta work out what all the fuss is about, with this new OS!

A couple of people have remarked on other forums to reboot the iPhone and then perform the process again and it solves it.
Worth a try I suspect.

Having seen the names of the Ipsw files, am I wasting my time updating my iPhone to the public version having installed the GM? They have exactly the same version number.
Too late I have already done my iPad 2, but don't really want to do the iPhones as I would have to rejailbreak them.

As for the 3200 it is purely a traffic issue and needing the apple servers to confirm your restore to ios5 as valid. Just keep trying. Mine is all done now.

I just went to that news stand for a paper, nothing in it, you must have to get their early before they sell out. Not even a copy of readers wives left on the shelf.

Well I can beat you all!
Started trying to download it at 6.15pm, nothing happened for the first two attempts, it then took 82 minutes to download and when trying to update my phone (four times) it looked to be going ok but came up with the 'can't restor' error (it was however still working at this point). I rebooted my laptop and iPhone and tried again and now it's propper buggered! Each attempt keeps alternating between error 3004 and 3014 when I try to restore it and I can't access anything on my phone, all I get is the USB and iTunes logo on the screen everytime I reboot i'd be happy with just the old OS on at the moment! Looks like i'll be without a phone for a while! (white iPhone 4, 16GB)

Mine has now moved on to error codes '11' and finally '3200'. It's gone from an image of a USB and the iTunes logo to a small spinning circle, then the apple on the start up screen (with an empty progress bar under it) then back to the small spinning circle. It is no longer recognised by the pc either!
Not impressed!
Before doing the update I hadn't had ONE problem with this phone

If the version number from the GM is the same as the release then you shouldn't need to upgrade to the released version. The theory is that the GM seeded to devs is identical to the version downloaded by iTunes.

iTunes was saying it was in recovery mode but it couldn't restore it, then I got those other errors and now it won't even connect to the computer! Currently it still goes from the Apple logo with the empty bar underneath to a small spinning circle (their version of the 'egg timer') in the middle of the screen
It's never been jailbroken.
I'm going to phone the store at 10.30, I expect they will be busy today!

Flaps have you tried the following: with the device connected to your pc via the usb cable hold down the power button and home button for about 10 seconds? This should bring it out of that dead loop you are in.

Mine finally worked this morning. Apple say that the 3200 errors are due to server overload.
My iPhone 4 all looks okay, except all my apps are gone. Will just re-sync them from my PC later. I expect I'll need to to load all my OS maps back into Memory Map again though too.
