True, but considering how 'our own' treat each other, it would be a difficult test to set up, and subsequently score

I'm glad you put a wink at the end of that comment.

It's the same kind of thing over here (Canada). I'll (hopefully) have to take a test next year, and some of the questions are rather difficult, but as in this case there is a handbook that they send you if your application is approved and the questions and answers come from within that book, so if you actually read it, you should pass.

Cannot recall if I need to take an English written or oral test though. I know for some residency types it is a requirement.

other questions that should be included are:

What allowance do I receive for each child ?
Can I bring all my relatives who don't speak English and will be a burden to British tax payers?
Can I commit a heinous crime and still remain in the UK ?
Can I insult British military and not be punished?
Will I receive limitless financial support if I pursue any human rights issues ?
Will I receive a house for myself and my 8 kids ?

You scored 7 out of a possible 24

You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain. What would you change about the test if you could?

edit:

10/10 on the real one

Should they all be deported then?

Seriously, I dont see how a pile of multiple choice questions can be considered adequate proof of suitability. People can probably work out the best answers to give to achieve acceptance anyway.

You do have to give some credit to the northeners though, they are pretty tough. I was out with some Barnsley lads in Liverpool once and one of them landed a punch so hard on an Irish MMA fighter that the guy must have been seeing stars for a month.
If we want the Taliban sorted we should send the male population of Barnsley over with a few hundred crates of stella.

i think anyone should be allowed in if 1) they have a job and 2) don't sponge off our social system.

There must be loads of people who legitimately want the chance of a better life and are willing to work for it. why can't they come over?

There are so many indigenous work shy cretins in this country, i'd actually prefer some respectable hard working immigrants over them.

Force the indigenous creeps to work by putting a time limit on unemployment benefits.

Uncontrolled immigration is all wrong and overall will drag the country down even further as it has already been doing.

The trouble is that minimum wage jobs cannot pay for somone to support a family. If there was not state help how can a man pay for rent or mortage food and other expenses for him his wife and 2 kids on £6.00 per hour ? £225 pounds a week , I spend more than that on miscellaneous crap. I think we may have to swallow almost completely nominal rents for council housing then cancel benefits so at least give people a chance to work.

Well there is no magic bullet to cure the gross mismanagement of the economy by those plonkers over so many years, Quite unforgiveable.

It will take a long time to build it all back to anywhere near where it was when NL was voted into power. What a mistake that was!

We will have to accept a lower standard of living, cant escape that.
