Google bought Android, they didn't steal it, they didn't come up with the idea either. They bought Android inc in 2005, two years before iOS first came out. Also it's kernel is based on the Linux one, so Android is basically a mobile version of Linux. Can't really see why Apple think they have had anything stolen from them. I think Steve was a bit miffed one of his board went to the competition.
End of the day Android has created large opportunities for companies to make new devices and grow as businesses. iOS has made Apple a shed load of cash through their devices. Apple users are happy that they have a product that "just works", Android users have the same as long as the device manufacturer has implemented it well.

Saint you seem to have forgotten to mention the millions of pounds, probably hundreds of millions of pounds that Apple has made for independent software developers, a trade that was dying on it's ****. No one spends money on Android, we know that, so that just leaves Google, HTC and Samsung making money from Android. Thanks Steve.

I think if Apple were to do a certification programme with other hardware vendors similar to what Microsoft did with their "Compatible with Windows 7", Designed for Windows XP" and "Certified for Vista" etc for PCs, with an "OSX Certified" programme for other vendors, they could really eat into Microsoft's share of the OS the market. It shouldn't be too difficult as Mac and PC hardware are very similar, I had Snow Leopard on a Thinkpad T60.

Why on earth would they do that. That's the problem with Windows, it has to support way too much hardware, it's out of control.
Apple are doing just fine without letting pikey PC manufacturers spoil the party.

If Apple chose 2 or 3 hardware vendors to work with and kept controls on quality and compatibility very strict as to what is certified and what isn't it could work and boost their market share.

What are you talking about? There have been adverts on iOS since there have been apps. iAd's are fantastic though, I agree with that, much better than the Google rubbish.
