06 Plate WRX STi Information
#62
I have a re-mapped wrx running at just over 280bhp and do a fortnightly run of 330 miles on a tank of 99 ron at around £70 with speeds of around 85-90 mph. My mate had a standard 2.5 litre sti and was doing it on a tank too. Don't pay too much though as the same mate just traded his in and only got £6k for a mint 56 plate !! If I didn't have mine I would have bit his hand off !! He did say the sti was a lot harder drive on long journeys than his old wrx (one of his reasons for selling it).

most of my miles are around town. Its been used daily for 5 years and has done 29000 miles. Around town 200/220 miles to a £70 tank of fuel. If I take it on a decent run, it will get to about 240 miles. The best I ever got was following my dad to wales from sussex and it did 300 miles but we were sat on 70/80 most of the way.
If I was doing more miles there is no way I could run it. I have a mate that has just sold one as he was doing 15000 a year and it was crippling him.
This will make your eyes water. This month I have had
New tyres - £600
Tax - £460
MOT and service (cam belt) - £700
Tracker subscription (annual) - £147
Admittedly it all came at once but for the first time even I looked at it and momentarily thought 'this is stupid'. Trouble is I love it, so wont be getting rid of it.
Oh, its an 06 STi fairly standard apart from exhaust and map. 340bhp/360 lbs/ft. Interestingly the map made NO difference to the fuel economy.

as confirmed from a newage sti owner,200 to 220 miles to a tank on everday driving,
take it from owners of the model you are looking at and not owners of other models who have no idea.

No idea ? Sorry you guru. Like I said mine and my mates sti were both doing around 330 miles on the motorway, you can however get this figure down to whatever you like depending on how heavy your foot is, I'm just trying to let you know that 330 is possible sat at around 85-90 with some slow traffic thrown in.

most cars mpg improve greatly on a run at motorway speeds hardly a true reflection of mpg!

6K for a mint 56 plate . I know there is no market for these at the moment but I havent seen them anywhere near that. Had it done many miles?. I know of one that just sold at 8500 and I thought that was cheap.

Just to add, my previous scoob, an 04 WRX, standard apart from a prodrive back box would only do 240/250 ish on a tank, so not a massive difference.

then most sti owners agree that 200 to 220 is what you would expect from a full tank of fuel.
so 300 is not really that realistic in normal conditions.
im not trying to argue with you monkfish2 i just think the op is looking for mpg info and your estimate is very misleading in terms of what he can expect.

Luckyscoob, what you paid out in a month might be quite a bit, but you pay out those things on a sti or a st.
And on MY03STI ppp I get about 240 miles to a tank and I have a lot of fun with 325 HP, soon to be 360. Can't wait.

Likewise tubbytommy, but the op asked for mpg on a run not an average where 220 would be most likely.
Luckyscoob, I think it had 44k on the clock which about 9/10th were motorway miles, there were only 7k on her 2 years ago and he paid £15k. The trade in was for a standard 2 litre diesel Passat (06) and he had to pay THEM £500 as well !!!!!

16miles return trip daily driver STi 2ltr blob 55 plate, with ecutek 330bhp, I get 18-19mpg, no better no worst, equates to 192miles to a tank consistently. This is all country roads and heavy right foot, so not bad at all imo. I'm also running 19" wheels n rubber which wont help.
