lol yea such a great driver that he set off the automatic brake/indicators when he had to suddenly brake for some lights that he didn't anticipate.
As for the traffic light GP, I was ready but not that bothered so didn't rev mine up for the perfect launch, as a result he totally got me on the hop. However even if I had got the perfect launch it would of been a bmw win.

They all go off the clock mate, try reading the speed on a GPS, it's a tad more accurate. Also, a remap makes no difference whatsoever to top speed.

I know what happend, and i don't lie.
How accurate the clock is i have no idea, i presume like most it's +/- 10%
I know my type r is supposed to do 157 based on the ratio but not sure about the wrx, i presume it's more, and i have seen a table that is often quoted, but don't know where to find it.

Seriously? My poor running less than standard bhp Legacy GTB had no problem playing with a 330! In fact it's one of them I never thought about even taking seriously.

I'd say unless you're running well over 300 you would get a surprise, put it that way.

tehehe. im exaggerating for effect of course.
One of the reasons i sold my scoob is fear of it going pop. Im sure if we did a "whos had an engine rebuild" thread on both forums, most scoobies with +70 have probably been rebuilt.
I think e46's are still worth keeping up service history to retain some value, however the cars are infact very cheap to run if you do the work yourself. They are also extremely easy to work on.
Engine, gearbox, diff oil etc is the same price as that in a scooby. Tappet adjustment can also be done diy, but the truth is most cars dont need it.
My e46 parts are still quite expenses, but my e36 m3 evo parts are now dirt dirt cheap, and i can only assume the 46 will be going the same way. seeing more and more of them start to be broken due to the uber low residuals at the moment, which will make them much cheaper to run over the next few years.
i think a 330bhp classic would about match an m3 in a straight line or maybe pull on it a little. But i doubt a 330bhp newage would.
Furthermore, the m3 is a drivers car, not designed for a-b speed but fun, feedback, driver involvment and speed. Another reason i got rid of the scoob was because it just didnt involve me enough. Dont get me wrong, it was brilliant ont he b-roads and went like a freaking rocket, but not much skill was required.
I love both m3 and subaru. But for 8k i would go scooby and keep it stock so i dont blow it up. If i had 10-13k i would buy m3 every day of the week.

The driver feedback is the reason i run a v3 type r, it's a completly different driving experience to a new age, and when i was running circa 330bhp nothing i cane across got close, and even now with 303 its still a bit of a handfull, i actually prefer it with less power and 16's as it's a better drive in standard trim, much nicer to back it into corners, and the speeds are not quite as stupid

lol you obv have never driven a newage sti, they are pretty heavy mate. The 330i coupe does 60 in 5.8s so its not far off an sti anyway. As for gettin my car checked, nothing wrong with it, was remapped by Bob not that long ago. Anyway the 330 I came up against must of had some mods

Your right, I have never had a race with a 330. Did completely embarrass a E92 M3 a couple of months back in my classic but that's a different story.
I didn't realize you had a WRX. I thought you were in an STI, I can see why you had difficulty with a 330 now chap.
Pal of mine recently sold a E92 335D, that was a nippy car. Mapped to 310bhp and about a million torques, lol. That was quicker than a standard newage STI.

not had my sti long its running 340 bhp. My silvia I sold this year was stage 2 at 320 bhp and could outrun an e46 m3 not loads but it did several occasions. The sti is quick but get it opened up on a straight I think it would struggle with an m3 as my silvia would out run the sti quite easily top end. Different story if it was in the twisties or wet

I've had my 305bhp classic since April and still havent had a decent race with anyone other than my friends 6 speed 360bhp classic and a BMW M5 Ring Taxi at the Nurburgring. Only thing i've noticed about the 6 speeds is the ratio's are so short that the gearchanges must have an effect on acceleration time as I can keep up with my friends, even tho he has 50 bhp more.
