just to add, the stigma comes from the fact of so few people are peoperly aducated in this area,
and the media are responsible for the mis-education through sensationalism, to increase profit, nothing to do with actual fact. its a real shame.
ive got a gripe against the fact alcohol is legal and socially acceptable and other far less harmful drugs are not. the side effects from steroid use are far less than alchohol, and many of the effects from it are the same as hormone use. alcohol itself upsets the bodies ability to maintain hormone levels, causes erectile dysfunction, high estrogen levels in men ect - thats why you see so many men with ****.
people here "bitch ****" as a side effect from steroids when in actual fact its far far far more common in people that drink excess alcohol.
also hormone manipulation is legal in female contraception, but just accepted and has as many side effects if not more than testosterone or many of its derivatives - but its just forgotten about/accepted?
real shame people constantly bag on about the sh*te in the daily mail or other papers when they talk about things that are clearly untrue, but when it comes to steroids there all sapped in like suckers again? lol

And I wouldn't advise the OP to "load up on as much GH as you can" as misuse of GH can lead to "gigantism" (lengthening of fingers and enlarging of joints and jaw!!) and many people suffer from distended mid-sections after prolonged GH use. Not good!

Nice engine bay Jeff !
Last show was Nabba Midlands last year, don't even go there!!
I've done a few shows in the States before, there are some big dudes out there!!!!
Taking some time out to pack on some more mass and just have a bit of a rest as niggling injuries were halting my progress.

It is more the use of Insulin that causes the gut, its caused from doing large doses for a long period of time, it makes your intestines grow

They are two very seperate and very different things. GH is a peptide and is used more as an advanced drug to compliment steroid use. It really needs to be used alongside steroids to get any muscle gain benefits. On it's own its good for weightloss but there are better things out there for that.

You are also very worng about GH. I know of a guy who took no steriods whatsoever and when taking GH and went from 15st to 26st. He tried to sqaut 400kg but it would not fit on the bar lol!
Don't ask me what GH he was taking I just know it was synthetic, not really interested in the whole steroid/GH whatever thing as I have no use for it.

That is a misconception of HGH use, HGH signals the liver to release IGF . IGF is the real compound that grows muscles and bones. The IGF receptors are reset in the muscles after a hard workout and there are a high concentration in the intestines.

Steroids my friend are not what you need...
The simple rule is that if you're going to take on more calories than you're going to burn... you're going to get fat.
If you want to lose weight, you need to maintain a calorie deficit. Most people think that this means go on a stupid fad diet. What it actually means is eat smaller meals but more often, and make sure that they are balanced ensuring that you are consuming around 2500 clalories per day. Keep your saturated fat cunsumpsion down, and excercise daily and look to burn around 800 calories in a session, a typical example is that you would expect to burn that by running for 1 hour.
Keep you metabolism up, breakfast within 1 hour of waking up (do not skip it, it's a big no no! The earlier you kick start your metabolism, the better and breakfast is the key). 20 - 30 minutes of cardio can speed up your metabolism for up to 24 hours.
Equally your workout intensity plays a part too. You need to vary it, but don't be fooled by thinking that a flat out workout is always going to burn loads of fat (which is what you're looking to do I think). A good idea is to by a heart rate monitor and find your optimum fate burning heart rate, which on most people is slightly above a comfortable pace.
Also watch what you eat and when you eat it... you want protien based low/no carb meals in the evening and try to consume your carbs between 11-3 in the afternoon. You also need 2 litres of water a day.
Sometimes I need to cut a lot of weight so I do my morning runs on half a slice of dry toast so that I only burn my long term fat supply [my body fat] instead of food; but I don't recommend it longterm.
You don't need short cuts, or steroids although you will find if you have a good proportion of active toned muscle, you will burn fat easier.
For us men, when you put on weight it goes on the gut 1st, but the gut is always the last place it goes from. So with this in mind you need to be well disciplined all the time.
I have had 1st hand experience of steroids in the past (long time ago), and if you don't know what you're doing you will have problems. As for GH, it makes almost everthing grow, fat, muscle and even dormant cancerous cells so bare that it mind. If you just want to lose weight, they are not what you need.
Oh, and stay clear of food with trans fatty acids [Hydrogenated fat] It is evil!! Check the ingredients of item before you put them in the trolley, trans fatty acids are usually in deserts and frozen cheap foods although I think some supermarkets have pledged to ban them from their shelves.

the actual truth is, you can read all above advise and absorb the information - but as an individual you need to learn your body and how it works,
what works for others does not work for all, people need to set realistic goals, it takes time to get fat and it takes time to loose it - and its all about consistancy, mental attitude and gentics.
im not a beleiver in gh, or insulin gut - its another myth, intestinal growth. i know many that use gh and insulin and have no gut atall, and i know others that have never used and have massive guts. its about how your built.
ie. your abdominal cavity, size. how wide your waist/hip bone is, the length and shape of your spine, your overall hieght, to name a few, these are all gentically controlled.
many bodybuilders have big stomachs in the "off season" purley due to the massive amount of food they consume.
end of the day its trial and error to learn yourself.
totally agree steroids are not the easy fix people think they are, they just promote a positive nitrogen balance which creates an enviroment where its easier to build tissue if you supply it with the nutrients required for growth.
correct for the igf via liver, thats what helps tissue grow also - but again , no quick fix, its name gives illusions of grandure "GROWTH HORMONE" sounds fantastic, but its just a sequence of 191 amino acids, the same as your body naturally produces, and again does not yeild massive results people think.
bodybuilding is like any other sport, the elite push boundries to stay on top, performance enhancing drugs are used in every single sport - but bodybuilding produces the most visable changes in physique. hence the highlight/interest or mostly condemnation for majority
steroids should really only be used for competitors and people that actually understand what they are doing. have a well established understanding of training and especially nutrition.
but like in every walk of life there are a considerable amount of idiots around - there choice.
theres some decent info above but not all 100% accurate, the diet points are generally good from scoober, buts its a sweeping generalisation that all men put fat on the gut first. yes males tend to hold fat on stomach area, and subcutanous and internal organ surrounds, where as women genrally its, bum, thighs, and "bingo wings
but its not a certanty - and not applicable to all.
nice to see more people in the know, education is spreading lol
you competing agian then dan?
im off to the universe tonight, my mates competing in class 4, cant wait hehe!!

How long did it take you guys to get bigger? Without steroid use?
Are some those testosterone booster from maximuscle and la muscle a scam?
Im 5ft10 11 stone and would like to get bigger, but some of these supplements cost a fortune.
Is protein shakes the best way?
La muscle do something called norateen, is worth trying?

Yeah I will do eventually, just got to get to where I want be physique wise before the next one. There's some real monsters around that i'll never compete with so need to bring my symmetry up to hopefully bring in the better all-round package.

but i always go, and never been to a universe - so picked this, cant wait - some of the european guys are unbeleivable. taking mrs and wee boy with me too, they quite enjoy the shows.
aye like the say, "gotta p*ss with the c*ck youve got" lol. balance and symmetry and condition go a long way on judging criteria - so its not all bad..
good luck in future tho - hope to get back up there next few years also
just dont miss the 16 weeks of 6am rises for cardio lol, or the lovley dieting haha

but still takes a long time mate - years to put it lightly.
but if consistant you can make very good natural gains, esp so when just starting mate.
overall diet is the best way, appropriate protein intake, with carbs and fats. use shakes only as they were designed - to supplement your food intake. whey is good at certain times but dont rely soley on supplemnts.
beieve it or not, some pro-hormones which are steroidal precursors(and very expensive) are legal but carry the same if not more risks as testosterone. but with lower results.
id avoid them, get your diet nailed is THE most important thing by far - if your not growing it is because your not eating enough. you can use things like creatine ect but no need to get carried away with all the bullsh*t marketing scams.

Indeed, I've long realised that i'm not going to be a 280lb shredded monster so symmetry and condition is my game. Luckily I have narrow hips so i can go in lighter and still look wide, but my height works against me in the leg department .
Ah yes, the good old fasted cardio. Diet doens't make anyone a nice person, it's hard to keep your head screwed on!!

To further add to what Jef has already said, age plays a part in the ability to add mass as your natural test production drops as you age, hence why some men need TRT.
Food is your friend and is the most anabolic substance known to man. Red meat boosts natural testosterone so is good if you want to add mass. If you are a hardgainer, little tips like taking casein protein or (my favourite) cottage cheese (which contains casein protein)
before bed gives your body a slow release store of protein to see you through the night. Casein takes longer to be absorbed into the bloodstream, whereas Whey is much faster acting, hence why Whey is better for after workouts or upon waking. When bulking, I also add porridge oats to my morning protein shakes to easily up my carbs.
As Jef said though, shakes are only supplements. if you have time to eat, then eat as whole food is so much better for you.

total monster, i thought he shouldve won over alvin last year, but i was quite far back, and in all honesty being black it does make it difficult to see condition and muscle seperation from a distance.
either way i agree, good future for him.
yeah just gotta play to your strengths mate, its all about the illusion, standing and posing correctly, seen so many great physiques look terrible because the cant pose, shame.
haha im opposite, long torso, so abs/chest look bit weird with shorter quads, but they definaltey one of my strong points

To the OP....
Don't listen to all these nay-sayers!!!
The trick with 'roids is to not under-do it....... *****-out bonkers on them is the way forward.....too much is not enough!
About 4kg of active substance a day should be about right!
You too could end up with arms like Greg Valentino (not Rudolph!)

I have used that before. Can't say that it made much difference, but I suppose people who use it a lot might see the difference.

Nitric Oxide pre training drinks and protein I find work well for me. You can spend loads on them, but there are cheaper ones around. I get Bodybuilding Warehouse's own brand Whey protein and Warrior Rage pre training drink. My diet is not the best hence the protein. Cutting out alcohol makes a big difference to training as well.
