So 4X the money should see a fire breathing 1000BHP Tarmac spitting 4 wheel drive monster.
60K would see you at well over 700 with awesome suspension, brakes etc etc.

to be honest if i even thought id spend that on the scoob when i went to buy it i prob wouldnt have bothered but i love the car now and spending money on it feels like i buying my kid new things ( i havnt got a kid),,,,my mrs is very good with everything aswell and when i told her im prob looking at spending another 30-40k she didnt even blink so i got her a 1 carrat diamond ring and asked her to marry me (that was 4 weeks ago and im still chuffed about it)
got a mate been building a car for 5 years now never turned a wheel but had 8 engine builds to date keeps seeing something else and starting over

That's the issue. These end up being what you've spent. It may as well be what you've spent on fuel.
You should only quote the parts you have installed on the car. Blown engines don't count, it's what's there for the buyer that matters.

Does he work in a bodyshop by chance? Got a mate the same, spent serious money on his corsa, finally got it all on the road, drove it for a week and decided he wanted to re-build it. Rebuilt it 3 times with rear engine conversions etc and differing specs and eventually scrapped it! Cost him loan after loan.
Now done the same with an Audi TT and an escort Cossie. Some people are just not happy and spend a fortune on projects that never see the light of day!

60k & still running a WRX box with only 500bhp - sorry, but you have been done. I spent 20k, had 478bhp with all the right bits on a 2.5 & a 6 speed box, not to mention all the suspension reworked & new brakes.
Mind you I prefer my current car now....

agree.......lets talk facts though guys there are not to many 700+ motors out there that don't have nigling faults here and there never mind 1000bhp........a lot of guys who own 700bhp+ motors are pretty handy with a spanner also and can sort out the small probs they have in an instant, others are not to fortunate and have to rely on a tuner to keep playing with it so for 60k you don't have to have a super powerful engine but yes a reliable 550-650 would defo be on the cards..............
60k is a lot of dollar..........but when factoring suspension etc its not just coilovers........its the full bush set the full antiroll bar set, sway bars drop links anti lift kit the also gearbox mounts, wrc engine mounts, wide track kits, spacers, alignment, front/rear struts........and thats just handling.......inc labour onto that and theres a small fortune spent..............simply put its very easy to get to 60k when using expensive parts, technology is moving at a rapid rate and better parts are coming out every month, and sometimes when your one of the first to have that part it can cost until slowly but surely they phase out become cheaper and everyman and his dog has them........granted their still top parts but then better ones are on the market that are lighter, stronger and last longer etc etc..........
so regarding dominos spec I have no doubt its a top spec with very good parts indeed but if he posts it people will be like thats not 60k worth I can get that for 40k.........at the time it would have been...........and 60k is a small fortune and people say why spend it on a scoob........its a hobby......simples

Been there done that, 60k for the full package is realistic. Its very easy for the bills to start to build up, I still need suspension and race prep (seat, firewall etc ect) and the bill is on the scary side, I wouldn’t change it for the world tho.

For anyone doing a build of any type it's always a work in progress.
