Without being 'funny' make sure you get a contract in your hand, are happy with it - hours, rates of pay, probationary periods, all the stuff that seems to have been missed last time and sign it and return it and get given a start date - along with a letter of confirmation before you go tell your current employer to "do one"

congratulations!

Well you have to laugh , i went in to my old place today to return my vehicle and equipment (quite smugly) . As they've been left in the **** with mass work but not engineers to do it.

Goes into the office to get photocopies of paper work the boss comes to speak to me:

"if we give you that pay rise will you stay?"

i replied bit loudly so people could hear "if you hadn't dicked me around when i should originally should of had one we wouldn't be having this conversation!"

That felt soooo gooood!

It's a shame that they couldn't sort this when i was originally due a pay rise and i would of still been there quite happily working for them.

Nice one mate and congrats on doing what you needed too. 2 years on and I'm just about a qualified mechy fitter (on paper at least - just need the experience now)... I'm so glad that I was dismissed from my last warehouse job, much happier now and fingers crossed the grass is greener for you too

Really glad it is all sorted for you now.

I would be sorely tempted to make sure that CEO knows how the manager treated you and why you left their employ.

agree a nice written letter explaning your actions would possibly make them think twice in future,

glad it all worked out for you.

i just dont get why companies dont understand that the better they treat employees, the more they get back (generally) once theyve weeded out any wasters. you want a reliable effective workforce, this puts your company in a stronger position to provide the best service and keep customers very happy.

i understand its hard times ect and not all are in that position, but even before the financial mess, companies in general just squeezed fcking everything they could from workers for the absolute lowest wage they could get away with.

exaple my friend works at costco, they have three company logos, 1, keep customers happy, 2 obide by the law, 3 keep employees happy.

there efforts are rewarded with bonuses, pay rises and staff turnover is very small compared to a lot of places. its a win win. im not saying wages are huge, or bonuses, but they are definatley welcomed by employees. and it refelcts in staff turnover and effort put in by workers imo.
