How do you ever get justice in these circumstances? I don't even know what justice looks like in this case.

They should remain in jail until it can be proved that they are no longer a danger to society I guess, I can't think of a better option than that

As I said, I think it was the direction of the thread. Seems we agree that in principle the death penalty, for sick adults like this one, i certianly not worse than the, well to be honest, any, crime commited against a kid.

That also said, we've got a thread about animal abuse here today but yesterday's story about a little girl being beaten so hard her stomach ripped got passed over.

What I'm seeing is a lot of banal chat and not a lot of suggestions.

What do you think the parents of a 2 year old child, recovering from a severe illness and then taken home, to somewhere she should be safe and protected only to be tortured and eventually beaten to the point she almost dies again should be?

I think they should get a kicking, see how they like it, show them all the mercy they showed that child.

Come on. What's your actual opinion? You challenged CoB to present his and he stepped up. Can you do the same?

Parents should be imprisoned. Since that is the only option in this country.

Although I don't care abuot them to be honest. The priority needs to be given to the child.

The child should be taken in to care immediately, and found an adoptive family ASAP. Knowing how long this can take...the child will be 4 by this time and have had 2 sets of foster parents. Of course a very high chance she will suffer as she grows up and show some unusual/damaging behaviors.

Punishing adults is clear cut.

EDIT you said please so given that you turned off the pointless sarcasm I feel compelled to go a bit further. The line in bold does not say beat people to death, it says until. The rest you should be able to work out.

It really isn't, 5t, hence this exchange. For the record, I'm opposed to capital punishment in all its forms, irrespective of the gravity of the offence. Having said that, I am rather fond of cats.

Thanks for the edit, much clearer. So you're saying the feline-swinger (as far as I can understand he was included in your proposal) should be beaten everyday until he dies? How do you propose this would work in practice? Cat o'nine tails administered once a day? Where and when would this punishment take place? Who would do it and would you be comfortable with their state of mind? How would this daily beating until death tariff be applied across the spectrum of crimes? What if he'd swung a dolphin around by its tail; would this attract a more severe daily beating owing to their superior intelligence or would you keep it consistent across the animal kingdom? What about huntsmen, jockeys and fishermen? Perhaps a paddle about the bottom until 50.
