Good work!

What were the temps like on the top mount?

What clutch did you go for in the end to cope with that torque?

Hi all,

Sorry to jump in but I have a VF43 that I have been wanting to fit for some time now.

I have a WRX Hawkeye, which I want to fit it onto, and wanted to know whether 320/330 bhp and 340/350 Torque levels are achievable with a map that will give a nice daily drive and also good reliability, I don’t want a laggy turbo drive if you know what I mean.

What I’m asking is if the map is tailored to safety and not power, will the car still be nice to drive?

Thanks all.

Chris

I’d have said easily achievable with the 2.5 and the vf48. I’m running 334bhp & 381 lb/ft on my 06 WRX and some are running a LOT more from similar setup.

As far as reliability goes, its anyone’s guess really. Lots have experienced engine and gearbox failures running much less. If you stay on the right side of 350bhp and 350 torque and drive considerately then you will nurse your gearbox rather than kill it immediately.

Also be aware that any boost over 1.3bar could cause the ringland failure of the pistons known on the 2.5 engines. But again, this has been seen with much lower boost too.

In the end, if your engine is going to fail then it will fail. If you get it mapped and increase the power it may fail faster! But…. That said, I would always recommend a remap as the standard maps are not great. Having a custom map will allow your engine to be tailored to its fueling & timing requirements running it safer and better.

In theory!

Good luck.
